If someone came up to you, gave you their credit card, and said "Use this to buy any computer that you want, but only use it to buy a computer", what computer would you buy?

PC or Mac? Tower or Laptop? Details!

As for me? I would probably buy a sweet, fully loaded Alienware PC. I'm talking 4GB RAM, 1.5TB HD, two dual-core 3 Ghz processors, etc. I would get two 30" widescreen displays, and some kickin' speakers.

Then I would wake up...

Macbook with the guts of a Macbook pro.

I'd probably opt for a server running off ~1024 cores. Something really obscenely powerful. I'd need an OC192 to go with that. And say a PB or two of storage. And fries.

Oh and a nuclear reactor to power it.

Mac Pro 3.0Ghz
16GB RAM
2x23" Cinema Displays
3TB HDD

Forget the 30 inchers, they are far too big.

Prob the same as Glenn, but with two 30'' HP screens because their better than apple's . Or I'd get an insanely huge server with lot's of screens and gadgets and doo-hickies.

All I'd want is to purchase a 23" cinema display to hook up to my already perfect Macbook.

Mac Pro 3.0Ghz
16GB RAM
3x30" Cinema Displays
3TB HD

Just for the hell of it. :D

The best mac pro and one of the 30" displays. Maybe some additional external hard drives.

Nice! Looks like most people here opt for the Mac..

I was juist over at Alienware, and it looks like my setup would cost around $14,000!

If only!

I'd go for a mac, a mac mini would do just fine for me.

MacPro with all the bells and whistles. 3TB storage, as much RAM as it can handle and a 30" cinema display. That would be sweet.

You Mac Pro guys are thinking way too small in the StorageCap area. Hitachi just released a 1TB 3.5" Hard Drive....with the four Drive Bays inside the Mac Pro, you can actually fit FOUR WHOLE TB'S OF STORAGE INSIDE!!!

I'd then load it up with 16GB of RAM, I'd get 4 30" ACD's: two to sit on the desk and two mounted on the wall in a "Heads Up Display" position. Ok, I admit it: I think I'm Batman. LMAO!!!!

Then I'd get 10 of the new Apple Xserves, add a little Xgrid magic and turn em into a server farm for my video rendering. Oh and I'd get two 7TB Xsan units, so that I'd have 14TB's of backup goodyness!!!!

Hey, I'm not spending my money right? Might as well go for the best!

My 1st choice would be a 15", 2.33Ghz MacBook Pro with 3GB Ram and a 200GB HD and a Glossy Screen. I'd pickup a 30" Cinema Display and some speakers (I'm not real specific when it comes to speakers, just anything that'll easily fill my room with sound) and a TB external hard drive to go with it - oh, and maybe a case, too. If I were allowed to get more than one, my second would be a Mac Pro with two Dual-Core 2Ghz Xeon's, 8GB of RAM because I don't know what I'd do with myself if I had 16, 3TB, Two Superdrives, Dual 30" Cinema Displays and a Fiber Channel card. My third choice: a 10.5 TB Xserve RAID with the Cache Battery Backup option for my home server, and finally a Mac MIni for my main (living room) TV because I want more power than the Apple TV fot that, and an Apple TV for my secondary (bedroom) TV.

As far as software goes I'd most definitely go for Adobe CS3 and iWork liscences for the MacBook Pro and the Mac Pro, I'm not sure what server software I might want to buy but I'm sure I'd want some.

That's just my dream though.. I honestly don't think I could spend someone else's money like that, at most it'd be just the MacBook Pro sans the 30" Cinema Display.

Apple Mac Pro - 16GB of RAM, 3TB of hard disk space and all the other features to really pimp it out. Including two 30" Apple Cinema Displays.

the one i have works, i wouldn't buy another
