Want More Twitter Followers? Drop Your Link!
Thanks to Darren Rowse's social media love-in back in July, I've gained a good-sized following on Twitter, a popular and addictive microblogging platform.
I wasn't one of the first to comment. Actually, I got lost somewhere in the middle of a vast sea of comments. But because his readers were so intent on finding new followers, many went through and added everyone on the list. And thanks to that one idea, and my participation in what turned out to be a big group effort, I gained 300+ followers on Twitter.
I'd now like to offer this opportunity to you guys.
First, I'd like to clarify that this isn't just about building your e-fame or competing for more followers. It's about meeting new people and building new friendships, as well as strengthening the bonds you already have.
Add me, and anyone else linking to their Twitter pages in the comments area (or, at the very least, visit them), and then drop your link. (Please don't be greedy- you have to link and add others in order for this to work!) And yes, I will be following every single one of you.
Let's make this big, guys- tell your friends!

I added you on Twitter this morning.

I've gained tons of followers the same way, I posted once to Jeremiah Oywangs blog and got a hundred in a couple of hours.
I'll post this and let's see if it works for you.

Zow! I got a ton of followers by posting a comment on someone's blog once, and then Chris Brogan said something nice about me, and whoosh - more followers!

I think each one of those tactics will work as well as responding to some of the Twitterati with interesting/ amusing comments. There is also a group on LinkedIn that is amenable to this, http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=80437&trk=anet_ug_hm
Hope it helps,

I've added you and I'm visiting others right now :) I had signed up on Twitter almost a year ago and then pretty much abandoned it...I then started participating more recently and I can see I'm getting more traffic to my blog.
Feel free to follow me!
