Blogging for Novice: Blog Review
For those of you who are a little 'behind the curve' as far as what's happening here at IGTB, I'm offering free blog reviews to anyone interested. (Please be sure to read the rules before emailing me.)
Today's blog, Blogging for Novice, offers lots of tips for the newbies in the blogosphere, plus links to plenty of great templates and services.
It's really difficult for me to judge a blog about blogging, because it's in the same niche as IGTB, and I can't allow myself to view it in the same light.
Blogging For Novice is, as the title describes, a blog aimed at new bloggers who want to learn more about what blogging is, which services are right for them, where to find templates, and to get some general blogging tips.
My first impression of the blog was a fairly good one- the template is nice, it's clean, and fairly easy to navigate.
I would, however, like to see the list of recent posts moved up above the tag cloud, and perhaps even above the categories. This would make navigation of newer posts a little more obvious, especially to those newbie bloggers the site is aimed at. It's a way to showcase your newer articles and make the navigation process 'idiot-proof'.
I also feel that the AdSense block could be designed better. When I look at it, I see a big blue rectangle that does stand out (which is good), but clutters the page (which is not so good). I think that matching it to the page (white background and border, blue links, grey/black text) and moving it up a bit (move tag cloud below ad block). This would improve visibility, and perhaps result in an increase in ad clicks.
Keep in mind, these are observations based on my own experience, and results of these actions will vary from blog to blog. Use your best judgment when making changes, and effects may not be seen right away; it could take a month or two to see a significant change.

Overall, I'd say it's a good blog, though lacking some depth in certain areas. I'd like to see tutorials that are a little more 'meaty', and expand on some of what has already been presented. It is, however, a good resource for those who want to learn the basics of blogging.

Thank you very much for the kind review, Raivyn. Take note of the suggestion for improvement. I'm going to implement it once I'm free. Life's getting busy lately. :)
Once again, thank you so much for the review ^^

^-- No prob! Just remember, these are my own ideas, not a guaranteed win. People think differently, and there is no one way to do something when it comes to blogging. Good luck! And if you need help or an opinion, feel free to shoot me an email. ;)
