MySpace has just announced the public beta of its do-it-yourself advertising platform MyAds.
“With MySpace MyAds, we’re blowing the lid off display advertising solutions for small and medium businesses,” said Jeff Berman, President of Sales and Marketing for MySpace. “MySpace MyAds is a direct marketer’s dream - providing entrepreneurs with the most accessible, personalized, and targeted advertising toolkit in the market. We’re giving businesses better ROI ASAP and in today’s economy, that’s a must-have.”
MySpace is touting its HyperTargeting ad technology as a way for advertisers to use MyAds to target users based upon their profiles–assuming that they’ve not lied about who they are.
What do you think? Have you had success with advertising on other social networks? Will you give MyAds a try?

If comparing MyAds with the famous PPC program -Adwords. I personally think that MyAds will more benefit us than Adwords. At least we reach who we want to reach, and will generate the quality traffic for the site. Unlike some ppc, spend much money on clicks with low quality lead.
Definitely, I will try on MyAds. Just want test it and see what kind of traffic it will bring me.
Thanks for the update!

Its likely to work only for certain niches. Social media traffic doesn’t convert well for many businesses.

This is a nice move by myspace; but it continues to follow their stale old act of creating large amounts of revenue on the backs of members and their content.
myspace is easily worth at least a billion, and where is the value coming from other than members/the communities content and activities.
How much ad revenue is myspace sharing with members that generate ad revenue for them ? Are they giving anything back to the community that has put them where they are ?
I am technology consultant, and this summer I became so feed up with the share cropper mentality of sites like myspace that I decided to build an application that shares the wealth that is created with the community.
We also have a stand alone ad service and we have a granular micro revenue sharing service that allows members to share their revenue with Friends, Groups, or Causes.
And unlike myspace and the rest we will be releasing most of the service to the open source community because we know we are not the smartest guys in the room.

william - I’m not sure where the idea of sharing the wealth has come from..? Social networks don’t necessarily owe their success to their users. They are providing a platform for better social interaction between friends. They also incur huge costs and therefore need a business model to enable them to make money.
Social networks haven’t found a way to monetize what they have, and I’m unsure how sharing their revenue amongst users will help? This will surely bring a money culture to the social network, radically changing the way in which people interact, motivated by money instead, and advertisers might not want to advertise on a site where fraudulent clicks are going to be high.
“Are they giving anything back to the community that has put them where they are”
They have provided a service to connect people together and enable people to chat, share photos, share videos, create groups, make new friends etc. And now they also owe them money? hmm…

Frankly I gave up on MySpace years ago as a marketing platform but this might be worth it. I’m always happy to give something new a try.

This is a great move on Myspace’s part. I’m surprised it took them this long. Now we will have to wait and see how it pans out. Hopefully the entire website doesn’t turn into one giant advertisement because it will loose visitors. How mnay will leave we will have to wait and see.

Sure, why not? If it works, good, if it does not, nothing stopping me from withdrawing. I however suspect that it is likely to work!

Utah - I think it’s the other way round. I don’t see facebook TV… I don’t see facebook music…. However I see myspace music, myspace tv, and a newly launched ads system. It seems like they are trying their best to get some revenue out of their platform.
Correct me if I’m wrong though!
