Pushing culture and creativity to levels never seen before, an entire blog post in creative links

by Patrick Algrim

Expression is the way of life, it’s a historical thing actually. From the dawn of time humans have been making pictures or characters to express moments in life. As you have seen from my last couple of posts I have been getting really interested in young generations (no plug to the name of the Web site), but also culture. To me, I have been smack in the middle of what I feel is the biggest growth in interesting culture ever. With the expansion of the internet and the growth of networking and showcasing art, it has pushed others to new levels never seen before. While some men are focusing on the fact that networking can earn money, I have seen that culture as a whole is at such a high level that I can’t even keep up.

It’s interesting for me to think about this, but one night it really did dawn on me - the internet is basically like a television where everyone can start their own channel. Imagine if television stations allowed just anyone to create shows, it would completely change the way people watched TV. I know there are things like YouTube, but we still have to remember - some people out there don’t use the internet and even if they do it’s extremely difficult to find material that others haven’t seen before. Millions of blogs about all things new and all things interesting, but it’s still not enough. Because culture is just such a beautiful thing. There isn’t a science to it, you can’t project it, and you can’t plan for it.

Where do good idea’s come from? Partially from other people, we are all pushing each other without even knowing it, inspiration is an extremely odd thing. What really is inspiration? You can’t plan for it to happen. Personally I could sit in one room for a week and continue to brainstorm new idea’s and experiments I would love to try, but essentially those would fail. Why? Because during that inspiration process I had no interaction with others. It’s a perfect mixture of friends, family, love, relationships, and good times that create true inspiration. Think about it, your best idea’s came when you were happy.

To me, culture is creativity, inspiration isn’t innovation and innovation isn’t reinvention. It’s a beautiful part of life that we can’t plan for these things to happen. Open your arms and welcome it, and try and keep up. Throughout this entire post, I linked you to multiple area’s where you can find inspiration and new culture in development.

The Kolture Vultures

On a small side note, these California kids are riding their bikes, and having fun doing it. This video doesn’t just show you kids riding bikes, but it shows you the upcoming generations. Can you project what they’ll be interested in? Maybe, but really it should just be welcomed and promoted. Forget everything about success or failure, those words should mean nothing, because they are made purely on individual opinion.

  1. Amazing link lists!

  2. I can’t even imagine how long that took you. Are the links you chose your favorite sources of inspiration? What was the process behind choosing the links?

    Very creative!

  3. It took me about 4 1/2 hours to put this together. I don’t really bookmark too much, and I don’t really have any RSS subscriptions. All these links were made based on what I like, various kinds of culture (you’ll find streetwear, art, odd, international, and more) I am interested in. Also just tried to put Web sites I thought were awesome, but not linked to enough. I’m glad people understand the statement and are enjoying the post. Much love to everyone, thanks for being readers!

  4. Damn that is tight! You sure have a lot of great inspiration as evident by the links!

  5. My god man. This is intense. Good job. On a side note, I love that video to little bits.

    Keep it up

  6. Great effort Patrick. I was thinkin’ the same thing wayback but, you know, this laziness :)

  7. Certainly agree with the thought that we are most creative when we at happy. The kids on the bikes… I think they want a phone with great video capability, on a cheap data plan, and a super easy to use blogging tool they can push their videos to. They’re artists. Artists like to share.

  8. Wow, that’s just creatively awesome and inspiring! Nice work and thanks – big ups bruvah!

  9. “While some men are focusing on the fact that networking can earn money, I have seen that culture as a whole is at such a high level that I can’t even keep up.” Brilliant post.
I also love the fixed bike video following your text. A perfect way the show how the mashup generation is making riding bikes fun again.

  10. Haha nice Patrick… Very creative and inspiring concept!
I really agree with the part about sharing our inspiration/creative ideas with others, I find that my ideas grown much quicker when I bounce them off of others and hear their ideas and creative passions.

    Another great article!!
