We have one more foundation for the Web, the World Wide Web Foundation (press release). Somehow I thought this name was already taken by one of the many existing ones. The difference here though, is that Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, is involved in this.
The early impression I got is that this foundation is to further the noble cause behind the Web. The role of an unbiased and democratic carrier that helps in minimizing information asymmetry. No wonder, Sir Tim Berners-Lee also talked about a way of assigning trustworthiness to sites.
It will be interesting. It will also be interesting to see how this plays with rest of the changes happening in Web.
