Insulting our intelligence
The ad then features a litany of media reports criticizing McCain's campaign,
including Time magazine ("one of the sleaziest ads ever seen"), the Washington
Post ("a disgraceful, dishonorable campaign"), and the New Republic ("dishonest
smears").
"After voting with Bush 90 percent of the time ... proposing the same disastrous economic policies," the narrator says, "it seems 'deception' is all he has left." Oooh, media reports say that John McCain is "sleazy" and "dishonorable"! Well now, there's a reason to flock to Obama's cause; he's not a big bad meanie like John McCain! It's patently absurd. Is anyone really going to be swayed by a claim, bolstered by a sympathetic media, that John McCain is being too mean to Barack Obama? What, Obama can't take the heat? He's offended by a few perceived insults hurled his way? What's next? An ad hurling insults back at McCain? Maybe Obama can recruit John Kerry to effect a French accent and sneeringly recreate the famous castle scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I fart in your general direction!

If they get
Jill Greenberg to
photograph it, I'm sure it will be a hit with all the hardcore lefties.
For the rest of us, it will serve as some much needed comic relief. But it
won't do any more to elevate the debate than Obama's lame attempt to "take
off the gloves".
