..the page for “corrective lenses are clutter” has a weird encoding or is corrupt (tested in firefox 2.1, safari, and lynx) - I hope it can be restored; I read the article but I want to see the comments- I’m thinking about lasik eye surgery as well! Thanks much. -D

Wouldn’t you know. I just tried again (4th try or thereabouts) and it worked fine.

Better late than never, I suppose!

Regarding the post on gallery hanging systems (a great idea) — There is some controversy about using glassine envelopes for archival storage. Here are just two sites that say to avoid it:

    IELDRN and
    University of Washington

I’ve done a lot of work with photography over the years and use clear polypropylene pages, although I’m not too happy about being stuck with plastic.

Erin, I love the display of your dad’s photos. The gallery hanging system is great in so many ways. We live in a factory loft renovation and the lease does not allow drilling or nailing into the concrete walls. The owners wisely installed a gallery rail throughout and we love it. My husband is a pro photographer and we run a photo agency from our loft. Easily changing the photos on display helps us personalize every client visit or just feature the latest project. The heaviest duty cables will hold several frames vertically.
An unexpected bonus is never having to deal with spackling, patching and painting walls just to rearrange a display. I figure that makes up for the cost of the hanging system and even clears aways related DIY/repair clutter.

The suggestion that corrective lenses are clutter is ridiculous and borderline offensive.

@Anna — It’s not offensive, you just disagree with it. Everyone on staff here wears glasses. And, we all agree, that we wish we had perfect vision and didn’t have to cart around all of the glasses/contact lens stuff with us wherever we go. How is that offensive? Did you even read the article? He doesn’t say anything bad in it at all.

The Internet: Giving the perpetually uptight a place to get their panties in a wad over nothing since 1992.
