Toshiba Protege R500 World’s Lightest
Toshiba has moved into Apple’s turf by releasing a laptop skinnier and lighter than MacBook Air. Toshiba R500-S5007V measures 0.7in at its thinnest point and weighs 2.4 pounds. MacBook Air weighs 3 pounds.
One of the more interesting feature of the R500 is the solid state drive capacity of 128Gb. It has a 12.1in transreflective LED backlit display. From Toshiba, This amazing display gives you richer colors and more stunning visual clarity when you’re indoors. Outdoors, the transreflective screen ingeniously uses natural light to bring colors and images to life.
Toshiba claims that the R500 will have 8 hours battery life from a single charge when used for normal computing. This laptop will set you back at $2999. The specs are 1.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo U7700 CPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 12.1-in. screen, and integrated SuperMulti optical drive. It also ships with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/n, Ethernet, and Bluetooth 2.0.
