Politicians KNOW you’re not paying attention.

Remember back to the 2006 elections… the selling point that essentially clenched it for the Democrats who wanted to “clean up” the mess the Republicans made… more specifically, end the war.

Nancy Pelosi mentioned it in her acceptance speech as the new Speaker of the House,

The election of 2006 was a call to change - not merely to change the control of Congress, but for a new direction for our country. Nowhere were the American people more clear about the need for a new direction than in Iraq.

Congressional race after Congressional race across the country had a Democrat promising the world, and like I’ll show you in a minute, you ate it all up.

Now we have a candidate for Presidential Candidate by the name of Barack Obama, who is making a host of pie in the sky promises to the voters… and yet again a host of folks are lapping it up.

Here’s a tip, no matter what letter they’re putting next to their name, chances are, if they’re making a “promise”, they’re LYING to you.

Take Rep. Paul Kanjorski at his word,

“I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we … the Democrats … that if we won the Congressional elections we could stop the war. Now anybody who was a good student of government would know that wasn’t true. But you know … the temptation to want to win back the Congress … we sort of stretched the facts, and the people ate it up.”

Next time you find yourself lining up to check the box next to that charismatic politician promising you the world, stop and think for a second… chances are, that’s all BS. Look at their political voting history, it is a way more accurate way of knowing the likelihood of them actually working toward their promise.
