  1. ROTFL.

Minus the rolling and laughing. J/K, it was funny.

But I’m not a freelancer quiet yet. Maybe I don’t want to be? Maybe I just want to be independently wealthy and become super snotty, so if a designer ever says something like that I can get a nice disgusted look on my face, carefully remove my white leather glove, and then SMACK HIM UP SIDE THE HEAD!

Funny!!! Do we have the freedom to do it with our clients??? Hmmm. Should think over.

  5. That’s how you haggle…

  6. I lol’d :)

  7. I think that is so true. Everyone wants something for less. What you pay is what you get.

  8. The sad thing about this is that it’s too true. The really sad thing about this is that flyers and posters are my favorite things to design, So i often end up just doing it for cheap.

not that I proud of the price, but this earned me a whopping $20. I quoted an hour.. i spent 4.

  9. This is all too true. The notion that a designer can ‘turn off’ his/her creativity to suit a budget baffles me.

  10. This is brilliant.

  11. Very funny, LOL! Thanks!

Would not using those letters actually require MORE creativity? Hehe!

One time when a client tried to negotiate my hourly rate lower, I told them I could work for them for less, but their work would get lower priority than my other clients’ who were paying my full rate. They actually agreed to this. But then after a couple of months, they realized their stuff wasn’t getting done in a timely manner. “I’m sorry, but I’ve had work to do for my other clients. I’ll get to it when I can.”

They eventually started paying my full rate. :-)

  13. Very funny but very true. I hate this sort of clients who always want the world but pay very less.

  14. SO true. Yet another great comic from N.C. Winters.

  15. I love this.

  16. Fast, cheap or good: take your pick. I can only do two out of three.

  17. @Even. That’s ridiculous! $20? I’d have quoted that at $100…

  18. Oops. “@Evan” not “@Even” :D

    crazy wabbit

How about the word PITA, Pain in the ???

  20. You only have to accept these kinda jobs when you’re starting your freelancing career and starting to build your name and portfolio… After that you can just say “SCREW YOU, I DON’T NEED IT”

  21. I actually LOL’ed

  22. That is hilarious!

  23. I’ll use this response next time, I swear I will! Thanks! ;-)

  24. This is painful. The amount of time we take to do a project and how much we get paid… seriously, sometimes I could break it down to 5 cents an hour. Teehee. Clients often do not think about the fact that we have to pay for home, food, bills, taxes, etc too. Time is money! Just haggling over the price could end up being an hour wasted.

  25. LoL! hehehhe Very nice!! :)

  26. Hey how about making 50% of the work? i think that’s a good idea , right ??

  27. thats right, and even, clients sometimes even ask you to go to see them like if they were paying you for that time you spend, just becouse you are a freelance, does not mean you work door to door
