I was going to write a long post today about Google’s Friend Connect, but after two hours of deliberation, what it comes down to is this:
Musicians, don’t let Friend Connect turn into what Myspace became. Value the relationships this gives you the opportunity to make — it’s called Friend Connect and not Friend Shout for a reason.
If you follow that advice and your sales drop (CDs, merch, and ticket revenues combined), email me next time you’re in Toronto and I will buy breakfast for your band and ten fans.
