Government, Lefties

Is it just me or is Obama laying out some really bothersome lines for his Presidency?

It seems like there is a common theme running in Obama’s policy speeches that we need to feel guilty as Americans and ask the worlds permission to blink. He uses the term “unacceptable” quite often, like how unacceptable it is to hold his wife accountable for her own words, and how unacceptable it is for us to keep our homes at a constant 72 degrees, or drive our big SUV’s or eat whatever we want whenever we want…

I’m sorry, but if I choose to keep my house at a constant 72 degrees I know that it will more than likely hike up my energy bills (hasn’t so far) but who’s right is it to tell me whether or not that’s acceptable? As long as there is a business willing to sell me the energy and I can afford to buy it, why is it Obama’s business to intervene?

If Obama wants to push the importance of sustainable energy and make my energy costs drop then by all means, work with our private companies and figure out the solution… don’t expect the citizen to bend over and take it simply because you’re on a power trip.

If I can afford to heat/cool my home however I feel, drive a gas guzzling SUV and eat at McDonalds 3 times a day 7 days a week, that is my right to do so. I know you’re going to try to stop me, but good luck with that.

Even the most American-loving European country (that would be mine) do laugh at Americans. If America police the world, it is expected they would be the most responsible country in the world. Your 21st century America would struggle to live in isolation, so you might as well stop the public of your trade partners laughing at you!

See the problem is that we don’t really care if people laugh at us.

I didn’t ask to be the world police, just so happens that even when we don’t WANT to help out people come screaming for our assistance.

We live in a country where we are free to do as we please, sorry if that’s funny to the rest of the world but if I want to run my thermostat at 72 degrees, I can.

State governments have tried the “control energy” thing before and it has backfired on them before and it will continue. California wanted to monitor and control ALL home temperatures and remotely turn them up or down at their discretion (something Obama probably DREAMS of) and the caused massive havoc over that.

If the US Government wanted to change their image globally, they could. Forcing your citizens to do it for you isn’t how this country works.
