28lb Lake Ontario King Salmon Caught

Posted on 15 May 2008

The York Daily Record reports that the huge King Salmon was caught last week in Lake Ontario. It was caught by, Todd Shreeve, while competing in the 12th Annual Spring Lake Ontario Counties Trout and Salmon Derby. The article shares that,

Shreve said he was told it was the largest “spring salmon” ever caught in Lake Ontario. “They catch a lot of fish that size in the fall,” he said, “but (an impressive) spring fish is usually 24 or 25 pounds.” Entire Article and Larger Photo Here

Follow this link for more information on the King Salmon (also called Chinook Salmon) in Wikipedia. It was there I found this interesting fact about the King Salmon,

“Chinook Salmon are typically divided into “races” with “spring chinook”, “summer chinook”, and “fall chinook” being most common. Races are determined by the timing of adult entry into fresh water.” Entire Wikipedia Entry Here
