Sun Open Source Solaris
Sun Microsystems will launch a supported version of OpenSolaris operating system at the CommunityOne conference in San Francisco. OpenSolaris is based on the Solaris kernel and uses many of its features like the Zettabyte File System (ZFS) and Dynamic Tracing (DTrace), which offers predictive self-healing capabilities. Sun wants to compete with Linux and aiming this open source software at web developers.
