9rules Relaunches April 30
Written by Scrivs on April 15, 2008
Whenever the mention of a new 9rules comes up we get the inevitable question of when this will occur. We have finalized that date and we figured we keep it for the last day of the month, April 30. So if you have nothing to do that day or are in a meeting at work be sure to drop by to see the new goods.
To add to how weird we are the launch will occur at 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Why? I don’t have any cool reasons beyond “Tyme made me do that time”. Starting tomorrow Tyme will be doing a series of posts of what we look for in a site and other great things to improve the quality of your site and you know when she gives advice you should read it with at least one eye open.
Oh and she will explain how to get your site in the new 9rules.

Does that mean that Chawlk will launch on April 30 too?

If it doesn’t it won’t be far behind, there are a couple surprises with that one though that will take a little more time. It is possible though.

Good that you were able to review the poor choice you made regarding your core brand and are willing to attempt a roll back but you’re going to once again be fighting the hurt feelings of many who have taken their time to participate here.
Perhaps a little less booze when making important decisions might have led to more sound decisions instead of a tanking Alexa rank, falling Pagerank, and a member base that felt used.
Hint, disguise you text link ads better and you’re Pagerank is likely to rise.
Best of luck to you with the change.

Yeah it sucks when your whole business revolves around Alexa and Pagerank. Not sure why we didn’t just start a blog and be done with it, then we wouldn’t have these worries. Marcus, if you have the time I would love to interview you for a position in our company. We are looking for someone who can artificially boost our Alexa ranking so our feelings don’t get hurt as much.
Kind of like our own personal carebear. You can be anonbear.

[...] The launch scheduled for April 30th is set to bring 9rules back to what it once was with its member focused content aggregation. Prior to this, 9rules opened its doors for readers to participate in its site under its part blog, part forum-like notes. With that came the new member agreement which required its members to actively participate in its community as well. This move prompted backlash and an exodus from many older members who felt that 9rules no longer reflected the quality that it once was. [...]
