Emergency Alert Via Mobile Phones

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) that would send sms alerts to people on their mobile phones in case of natural disasters and other emergencies. There are three kinds of alerts: presidential alerts; imminent threat alerts and child abduction emergency or Amber alerts. The service could be in place by 2010.
