The Old 9rules Is Coming Back
Written by Scrivs on February 22, 2008
To save myself from repeating what I have said a million times today I am going to link you to this Note which gives direction about the future of 9rules. To sum it up, 9rules is going back to the way it used to be with noting more than Member content to fill its pages. What is old, will be new again. We will be talking about this a lot so stay tuned.

Well, I wonder now if those of us who got “kicked out” when the site changed over will be reinstated as members…

I stop by 9rules from time to time and always leave in great frustration that I can’t find a page with a list of all blogs in the network, which used to exist, I think. Good move to jettison all the extraneous stuff.

I wonder the same thing as Susan.

Susan I’m not sure what you mean “kicked out” as every member had the same agreement placed in front of them.
That being said, old members will have the same opportunity as future members to submit their blog in the next 9rules Membership round.
David, that ability has never left. If you go directly to a Community you can browse member entries from each member and see a list of sites that are members of 9rules. At the Design Member Entries page for example, if you click on the tab that says “Sorted By Member” it will give you a large list of all Design Community members.

Mike - the agreement meant that to be a member you had to engage with notes etc fully. Writing material is one thing, but having the time to give to the boards, notes etc etc is quite another - work, family etc make it an impractical requirement and unwelcome intrusion for many. Most blogs allow comments, so writers were interacting with readers.
I don’t know if it was to this that Susan was referring, but to me, when that change happened, it felt like a constructive dismissal of sorts. In fact, it annoyed me greatly; not that it is any of my business how you run 9Rules, but it annoyed me none-the-less. From what you are saying, though, teh agreement will remain unchanged - so how will that work with the new set up?

We talked a little about the new agreement in our podcast the other week, but it’s being completely changed.

That’s interesting, Mike. What will become of members (such as me) who were effectively ‘pushed out’ by the requirements brought in by the previous changes? Will we be invited back in, or will we have to resubmit through a regular round again? I’ll get the podcast when I get chance - maybe you answer it there, but it would be good to know. I’d love back in if the opportunity arose and the agreement was not unduly onerous.

Reapply. We didn’t push anyone out though, if you left you left on your own terms with the old agreement.
