Just a quick update, but I finally got around to building a script that allows individual RSS comment feeds for each article. It's something that I've had on my to-do list for awhile now, but never saw any urgency to write it.
So, along with the main article feed and main comment feed, there is now a unique comment feed for every single article. These new feeds will simply allow you to watch comments for a specific article. To access these feeds you can click on the Comment Feed link that's below the article and its summary. Or you can just add "/feed" to the end of any article URL so it looks like this: http://webnv.net/articles/article-comment-feeds-now-available/feed.
This is just one of several new features I'll be adding to the comments system. You may of also noticed that I added an "author type" to each comment that shows people who the comment came from (guest, site member, or the article's author). It also applies a custom CSS class to the comment so you can uniquely design each comment based on its author type.
Next, I want to add a trackback link to each article to allow for...well, trackbacks. But since I've never used trackbacks before in my life, it's a little weird trying to write a script for them. I'm also going to be adding a subscribe option that will send you an email when a new comment is posted in an article.
These are just common things that most CMSs contain today, and while I'll probably never use them, I know there are some people out there who will.
