Previously Facebook has launched Beacon, an advertising platform that tracks member transactions on third-party partner sites and transforms them into product/service endorsements. Due to public uproar regarding privacy issue with Beacon, Facebook has allow users to “opt-in” to sharing information.

MoveOn launched an online petition on its own website and on that of Facebooks against Facebook’s Beacon advertisements.

From Facebook, “We appreciate feedback from all Facebook users and made some changes to Beacon in the past day. Users now have more control over the stories that get published.”
