Have you ever wondered why using a cell phone onboard an inflight aircraft is illegal? Ever thought that the reasoning offered by the airlines is far from logical or intuitive? This informative article explores the airplane cell phone ban in depth.
Visit site: Why cell phones are still grounded

I don’t know about you, but I would find a moron yapping on his mobile for 10 hours transatlantic beyond irritating.
Matt J: Funny thing about transalantic flights, they have no towers over the ocean. They’d need a satellite phone, which aren’t that common.
Anyway, Australia has similar restrictions, but the government hasn’t even made an effort to look into changing them, or even researching effects. It’s not a huge thing, but on my old phone, with no ‘Flight Mode’ (doesn’t attempt to make a connection to any towers, doesn’t look for any), they could be so boring without even mobile phone games to pass the time, not to mention the ‘emergency’ stuff that it could fall under, from people on the ground about my family, or me in the air about something on the plane.
Also, I don’t believe people would be so rude as to talk the whole time - of all the people who take public transport where they can use their phone, it’s a small minority, in my experience, who actually use it for an extended period.
I didn’t consider the lack of towers, but actually, from a plane, the LOS is phenomenal, I don’t know how far off the coast you would have to be to lose signal from a plane. And I KNOW that a minority of people would be rude enough to talk almost constantly for a whole flight. It’s irritating enough for 2 hours on a train.
