Political Parties Respond to OFAH Election Questionnaire

Posted on 31 August 2007

OFAH 75 yearsTo help Ontario Voters with some insight into what the parties have to say about the MNR and other hunting and fishing issues, OFAH sent the various parties a questionnaire. Three of the parties responded.

There also is a good letter on the OFAH site that is asking for our political party leaders to: Stop Wasting Our Bears.

I noticed on the survey of questions that OFAH (Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters) asked was discussing the closing of deer farms in Ontario. This is to help keep CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease) out of the province. I had no idea this was an issue - especially since CWD can be found in wild free ranging deer as much as farmed deer. The notion sounds goood if you are not a deer farmer. I think I will have to look into this some more before I decide on this one. I am not neccessarily opposed to it, it’s just that I am not sure I have seen a problem of CWD in Ontario’s farms.

Fill me in if I am wrong…
