I picked up an interesting sheet being handed out from Tony Clement’s office - Huntsville’s Local MP. The handout was titled, Liberals Attack Conservative Plans to Shut Down Gun Registry. The statistics presented said:
- Number of Insurance Companies that consider firearms ownership to be a risk - 0%
- Number of times per year that Canadians use firearms for self-defense against animals or other people - 60,000 to 80,000
- Percentage of Murders committed with registered guns - 6%
- Percentage of Roberies committed with long guns - 1%
- Percentages of Violent Crimes in which a firearm caused injury - 0.52% (stat from 2003)
The last three stats make me wonder if a 1 billion dollar investment in a gun registry was worth it. Agree or Disagree, what do you think?

The gun registry is an outrages waste of taxpayers money. Even the RCMP said that it is next to useless because they cannot find information on guns used in crimes. Of course not, criminals do NOT register guns. The Canadian firearm licensing and registry program is a prime example of politics (feel good politics) gone wild at a huge cost and with zero effectiveness. Imagine to what good use all that money could have been put, such as education, health care and the elderly.
