Under the watchful eye of Claymore Galatea and her Collector, Ermita, the team begins battle against the male Awakened One. The AO is very tough, and shreds most of the team quickly. Miria is the last one left, and has to play her trump card early to save her comrades. Miria’s ability to move in short bursts of incredible speed leaves mirages of herself; this is how she has earned the nickname, Phantom Miria. Unfortunately, the strain of controlling these bursts is great, and eventually the AO wears her down and molests her with his tentacle-tongue.
Fortunately, Clare is awake by now, and indirectly claims that this AO is nothing compared to Priscilla. Clare has honed her ability to sense the flow of Yoki in preparation for fighting an AO, and a stronger opponent simply makes dodging attacks easier. Clare’s Yoki-sensing is still a bit raw, however, since she is unable to do it effectively when she is emitting Yoki herself. Fortunately, Miria comes to her aid and they take out the male AO together.
Having read the manga, it’s easier to piece together the clues if you know where to look. The inn keeper tells Lucky that Claymores in the past had gone up to the mountain and never come back, while the male AO remarks that it is just his job to molest and kill any Claymores sent to him. Moreover, Miria recognizes that the rest of her team is able to use very difficult techniques quite easily, in spite of their lower ranks. It seems that they have all done something to cause the Organization to send them on a suicide mission.
This episode had a lot of unintentional humor with regards to the male Claymores. We learn that long ago the Organization used male Claymores as well, but they used their powers to fap a lot, and quickly surpassed their limits. Furthermore, they all tended to Awaken and become tentacle monsters that use all finger and tongue attacks. This led to an unhealthy work environment.

hilarious link Chris ^_^
re Claymore, I love this show so much, I am not reading too far into the mango though the story moves along fast enough and every episode moves along the story quite nicely.
PS R.I.P. Teresa -_-
Have to say I am really liking Claymore now - the first couple of episodes felt a little tiresome, but the last 5/6 have been amazing.
The “wandering tenticles” were a bit over the top though possibly :P
Love the music especially in this episode - real mix of styles!
Male AOs - the problem of horny employees…
“This led to an unhealthy work environment.”
ah! it cut off the rest of my comment!…
It looks like Wordpress only likes naked URLs and it will eat any comments that follow a less-than sign. I wish there was some solution for this…
Wordpress molests URLs with its tongue too!?
Wordpress has Awakened!!!
Are Alicia/Beth/Galatea supposed to correspond to Alpha Beta Gamma?
Burning question: after seeing the Claymores recover from insanely serious wounds, is it possible that Teresa could have regenerated her entire body from just her head?
No, because a critical blow will still kill a Claymore, as they mentioned in an early episode. Decapitation is generally considered a critical blow.
Although if Teresa came back with her head mounted on a new body and started using Muda muda muda muda…. WRYYYYYYY!!!!! I would totally accept and love that.
ZA… WARUDO!!!!!!!
You could say, beyond za gureiwo?
Lol, nice: Unhealthy work enviourment. xD

[...] Overall, I enjoyed Claymore and I was entertained by Claymore. While it was a well-executed shounen series, it didn’t quite have enough powerful emotional highs and lows to really make it a great series, but it didn’t have many weaknesses either. I also applaud the Madhouse team’s consistency, and their ability to resist overusing tentacle attacks (aside from that one that was all up in Miria’s face). [...]
