Claymore 08

In spite of their OMGLAZERSPEWPEW, the team is unable to even touch Teresa; moreover, Teresa has yet to release any Yoki. It looks like Teresa is about to behead Priscilla to avoid potential problems, but in a classic Good-Is-Dumb move, Teresa has pity on the rookie. At this point Priscilla goes crazy remembering how she had to backstab and behead her own father for becoming a Yoma and eating her brother’s guts. With that, she starts powering up uncontrollably and takes off after Teresa.

Upon seeing that Priscilla has released 70% of her Yoki, Teresa decides to get serious and activates 10% of her own Yoki. The match is still one-sided, however, and Priscilla tries to power up even more. Unfortunately, without much battle experience, Priscilla does not know her own limits. Realizing that she is about to turn into a Yoma, Priscilla asks Teresa to execute her. Unfortunately, it’s a trap, and as Teresa approaches, she gets her hands and then head cut off. Priscilla completes the Awakening, and then kills Noel and Sophia after ripping Irene’s left arm off. Priscilla decides to end the episode on a high note by looking for the nearest fly-through that serves guts.

Great episode, and with Teresa out of the way it’s now time to start devouring the guts of the Claymore story. Mmmm, guts. It seems that after 80% it’s very difficult to turn back to human, and when you release too much Yoki your voice gets all weird. I know Priscilla was supposed to be pitiful this episode, but I was totally giggling at her voice while she begged Teresa to finish her.

Speaking of Teresa, that was such an obvious trick that I can’t believe the number 1 Claymore would fall for it. Everyone knows that if a Claymore really wants to be executed, she first hands in a black envelope! Also, it was impressive how Clare’s green eyes, sandy hair, and reddish brown outfit allowed her to blend into her surroundings so that Priscilla didn’t eat the young girl’s innards. The only question left unresolved: Why does Irene have elf ears?

I think the idea is that Priscilla just considered Claire too small a morsel to be worth her trouble.

As for elf ears, hey, what could be wrong with elf ears? They’ll show up again on the Claymore known as Ophelia. Possibly the sickest psychopath in the whole series.

    Look forward to it!

The Claymore will hand the black envelope only if there’s still time before the transformation. In more extreme cases, she will ask to the first person closer to kill her immediately before completing the transformation.

Remember episode 4, when Clare thought she was turn into a yoma immediately, so asked to what-his-name warrior to use his sword and kill her fast.

As for Priscilla not eating loli-Clare, probably she thought she was too small, weak and skinny to make a great meal. She was interested in something better. If i remember well, there’s still another reason, but that’s a spoiler.

I don’t recall Ophelia having elf ears, but I guess I will find out soon enough. We’re finally getting to the good part of the storyline!

I was kidding about the black envelope thing, but since Teresa was right there, couldn’t Priscilla have handed her the black envelope? Preferably before Priscilla cut off both of Teresa’s hands. I think that scrub soldier’s name was Galk, but he was only important cause he gave Lucky a sword.

All Claymores keep the envelope in their sword, so I bet you can shoot out the envelope with a push of a button. I wonder if there is any text on the other side of the letter in the envelope (the front has the symbol of the Claymore who sent it). I imagine the back would be like, “LULZ, I HAS AWAKEND. KILL ME KTHXBAI.” Also, do Claymore send each other fake black envelopes as practical jokes? Like make up a symbol (crop circles!) or send envelopes for Claymores that haven’t awakened?

Gilberto, can you expand on why Priscilla didn’t want to eat Clare? The reason they give is that Clare was too weak to register on Priscilla’s radar, but this doesn’t seem to make much sense. You can enclose spoilers in <spoiler></spoiler> tags. I don’t recall seeing another reason why loli-Clare didn’t get her guts eaten when I was reading the manga.

As for elf ears, I’ve heard you can get them by playing WOW too much. Or was that red eyes? I don’t remember. Anyway, another explanation is that she was a naughty brat as child and had to be pulled by her ears all the time.

I’m not so sure that Priscilla planned this trick. I rather think the Yoma mind in her overwhelmed her and then took its chance.

I wonder if Irene’s ears become normal when she takes a suppressant pill. I have a hard time imagining her as a bratty kid, but you never know, haha.

For instance, Priscilla was pretty ditzy and bratty as a Claymore, but now that she’s Awakened she’s totally mellowed out and developed a case of the munchies… hey, wait a second…

I do not agree that Priscilla would send a black card in the middle of a fight especially since she suddenly loses control of her yoki. The whole act that she used to convince Teresa was pretty convincing enough since it’s basically the same thing that Clare did back in the cathedral when she nearly became awakened. Priscilla’s main objective was to kill Teresa at all costs and she did with the price of her humanity. Great deal isn’t it! However, you’re right, I’m still having some trouble with the fact that Teresa could fall for something like that, she’s gotten too soft in my opinion.
