Classic Text Adventures in Flash!

I just found some classic text adventures here. Adventure (Colossal Cave) was the first one ever made - in 1976!  You can also play the Zork trilogy, which is pretty neat.

If you are too young to remember playing these games on your ancient IBM PC or Amiga then perhaps you’ll find them a bit under par in the graphics department compared to an XBox360 - mind you it depends on your imagination because the graphics are all in your head anyway.

To get started in Adventure you need to go inside the building and get the keys then head south and open the grate with the keys, this will get you into the caves.

Unfortunately you don’t seem to be able to save the game.  You can type “save” and enter a filename but no file is created.  If anyone can figure this out, please let me know as it’s impractical to restart each time.  Thanks!

Hi Sue - unfortunately text adventures just aren’t as popular as they once were. I have no idea where you can get new ones but maybe some of our readers can…
