Missing in Action - Lost Gamecube games

IGN have a cool feature up listing the “Lost games of the Gamecube“. Some of the games in there you may have heard of, others will draw a blank - but all looked promising, so where did they go?

Going through the list there are a number of interesting games but three that stand out for me.

  1. Dead Pheonix was to be one of the Capcom 5 - 5 games developed exclusively for the Gamecube - but it disappeared never to be seen or, more importantly heard from, again. IGN are speculating that the game was shelved, and not cancelled entirely with a possible resurrection on the Wii as an update to Kid Icarus.
  2. I vaguely remember hearing something about Picassio a long time ago and the game still sounds as interesting as it did back then. In it you take the role of a thief, traveling the world, trying to get your hands on various pieces of incredibly expensive art.
  3. Unity was being developed by Jeff Minter - he of Llamasoft fame. Jeff is well known for fusing music with psychedelic visuals and was going to bring more of the same to the Gamecube. The game was being funded by Lionhead (Peter Molyneauxs lot) and was being created entirely by Minter. The game was canceled but since Jeff is now working on an XBox360 game it is likely that parts of his work have been transferred.
