Race for the Cure-Little Rock, AR

October 8, 2006 on 9:11 pm | In General, Photography |

I was in Little Rock, AR, October 7th, to walk a 5K “Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure” event, with my daughter. There were 42,000 women who participated in this event…so amazing!!!

We have done this a few times, before, and the first time was in 1999, when there weren’t quite 20,000 women who walked the course. It has grown, incredibly so, and according to the sponsors, is the fastest growing, and largest Race for the Cure in the world.

The proceeds go towards Breast Cancer Research…and 75% of the proceeds stay in the local chapter.

It was a wonderful experience, and I can’t even begin to describe it.
Nashville, TN, will be hosting The Race for the Cure on November 4, 2006. If you live in or near Nashville, TN, and would like to participate on Saturday -November 4th, 2006…check out the link.

  7. I came across your blog and wanted to say thank you! I also came from the Blue Ridge Mtns on the TN/NC/VA lines. I came to walk for the cause and was blessed to be a part of a team from Bruce Oakley Trucking, North Little Rock. I have never seen such an outpouring of those not only walking but those supporters on the sidelines. I am a survivor of lymphnomia only be the GRACE OF GOD and people as yourself. We had to have crossed paths in some way on Oct. 7th and I feel blessed to have done so and to be a part of so big hearts! See you again NEXT YEAR!!!!:)

  8. Oh, thank you, Ingrid, for stopping by. I came from Middle TN…my daugher lives in AR, about 90 minutes from Little Rock.

I agree, it was spine tingling, I had goosebumps, at the outpouring, both on the course, and the sidelines. The men, especially, with their support, were incredible.

You should be proud of yourself…so very proud.

I am sure we crossed paths, also.

There is one on November 4th in Nashville, any chance of you taking part in it?

  9. Greetings, Lorri, from Little Rock. I’m so glad you enjoyed participating in the Race for the Cure. I’m sad to say that I didn’t participate that day, circumstances prevented me. But I did enjoy seeing your pictures. If you want to drop in virtually to Little Rock anytime, you are invited to come by my blog.
