Five times.

Yes. Five times. And there’s nothing more to be said about it.
Alright, maybe there is. First–it’s not Brooke, it’s not the pattern. It’s me. I know that’s one of those things that guys always say–”It’s not you, it’s me”–but this time it’s true. It’s me. This blog should obviously be titled ‘Confessions of a Knitting Malcontent’. But there were two emerging problems with the heel and I just couldn’t ignore them any longer:
1) My misdivided heel stitches were resulting in a short squat heel flap;
2) I had an even number of heel flap stitches where I should have had an odd number–and the result was that one side of the heel flap–was–just–not–right.
So I ripped it out, right back past the gusset stitches, and now I’m just about to turn the heel…again. It’s now too dark for me to continue (I don’t have any proper task lighting in my apartment) so I’ll be tackling this on my lunch hour tomorrow.
In other news: Asif’s five-year-old HP Pavilion computer died on the weekend while he was in Delhi–so I went and bought him a new black MacBook (oooooh) and then used Apple’s Boot Camp program to install Windows alongside the OS X. (He has some work-related programs that only function under Windows, so it’s an unfortunate necessity.) It worked a charm first time out, so now it’s like having two laptops for the price of one. Thankfully his hard drive survived from theĀ HP so I was able to transfer most of his stuff from the old to the new.
It’s not a gift though–he’ll be paying me back in installments, and I’ll be trying to resist turning them into yarn purchases. Wish us both luck.

Having to rip back really sucks! You have my complete sympathy.

Thank you! I will say that my ‘ripping back’ skills used to be dreadful–but now I’m freaking brilliant at it!
