Presenting the heel.

Thanks to Brooke’s excellent update/enhancement of her Widdershins heel method, I am now well on my way to having something to stick my foot in besides my mouth.

I probably should have divided my stitches slightly differently (one or two less on each side, and therefore two or four more in the middle)–I think I’m going to end up with a short squat heel flap rather than a shapely square or lofty rectangle–but I’m not going to sweat it. I’m grateful (and quietly astonished) that this is working at all.

In two weeks, Asif and I will be in NYC to see some shows and–though he doesn’t know it yet–to shop for some precious Peaches & Creme cotton. Like about 50 balls of it. I think I’ll have to plan another activity for him, like shoe shopping or stocking up at Bath & Body Works, so as not to inflict this grave form of torture upon him.

    David:
I’m really enjoying your blog. I’m a ex-pat Canadian living in Seattle who started knitting in January of this year. I also appreciate your appreciation for Sugar ‘n Cream yarn.
I’ve been buying my Sugar ‘n Cream at http://www.createforless.com. They have great prices and a great colour selection. Here’s a link:

Unfortunately, they don’t ship to Canada…but you’ve got friends in the states. I’d be more than happy to forward purchases for you (we knitting gay Canadians need to stick together!) Just let me know if you’re interested.
I also spoke with my partner’s ex-wife on Sunday. She buys Sugar ‘n Cream at Wal-Mart. It’s cheaper than createforless but doesn’t have as wide a selection.
One thing I bought on createforless was a one-pound cone of Mistletoe (green, red and white ombre) Sugar ‘n Cream. Lot’s of wash clothes and dish towels as Christmas presents this year!

[...] Over at Knit Like a Man, David has been slaving away at the heal of his most recent sock for awhile, and I for one am glad he finally got it turned the way he likes. I can commiserate with having it all done and realizing it doesn’t look right and having to rip it back to the beginning . Also, he broke the news that You Knit What? will be closing their blogging doors, and the snark community can only hope someone else picks up the baton. [...]
