Knitty in the Sunshine.

July 5th, 2006

The summer edition of Knitty is up for your delectation and amusement. My thoughts on the closing of Lewiscraft can now be found there…as can a lot of great patterns for socks, gloves and hats. Go there, but come back!

Wicked good patterns this time around (as always). I’ve been dying for a split-toed sock pattern (it’s sad, because you really shouldn’t wear socks with flip-flops, but still), so I was excited to see that, but the absolute best one was the sock monkey hat! My old roommate will be getting one for Christmas!

What’s with the piercing of the sock monkey’s ear, though? I’ve never seen that before. Is it regional?

I *love* the sock monkey hat! And Asif’s a big sock monkey fan so I think that’s going to be a must-knit. I am not sure where to find the grey marled worksock yarn that the pattern calls for–I’ll have to do some calling around.

As for the piercing…I think it’s more generational than regional. :)
