Nielsen//NetRatings recently released the findings of their research on the political makeup of adults online. Needless to say, most of their findings were not at all shocking or revealing.
Among adults online, Republicans make up about 36.6% while Democrats are a close second at 30.8%. Independents round up third with 17.3%.
NNR also looked at websites with a heavy concentration of visitors on both sides of the fence.
The web top 5 among the Republican crowd:
RushLimbaugh.com - 84.8
NewsMax.com - 65.4
Bill O’Reilly.com - 65.4
Drudge Report - 59.0
Salt Lake Tribune - 57.9
The web top 5 among the Democrat crowd:
BlackAmericaWeb.com - 79.9
AOL BlackVoices - 64.8
BET.com - 58.6
Salon.com - 55.3
Village Voice - 55.2
Among newspapers online, it was a VERY obvious split amongst Republicans and Democrats. The Wall Street Journal fell into the decidedly Republican camp while The New York Times fell into the Democratic camp.
One wonders why we do these studies when time after time, the findings are so obvious they could have paid my 4 year old daughter and SHE would have nailed the answers on the dot. Still interesting if only slightly.
