Mint is pretty slick, but I think that it is too resource intensive to be worth using. I am still running Mint, but I'm going to switch to Google Analytics when I get around to taking my sites more seriously - Mint makes my websites slower and that is unacceptable when there's so many solutions out there that are virtually transparent (like Analytics).

Another reason though is because unoptimized MySQL slows down websites on MediaTemple's GridServer (where I'm hosted) like nothing else, and Mint (atleast with plugins installed) is pretty poor with that.

I've been running Mint on Volksbloggin since its inception, and have wondered why site access seems to be slower than it should. So Mint could be the culprit eh? I host on MT as well.

Mint ran pretty well on my old host actually, but on MT, you need to keep your database connections at a minimum (unless you pay for a MySQL container) in order to keep your site fast. Its pretty shady on MT's part, I wouldn't blame Mint for it, but it makes Mint pretty much unusable on an MT account.

The only reasons I'm still using MT is that I really like their control panel's interface and a VPS is too expensive for my current needs.

True that guys. I saw that container stuff just a while back, and it does seem shady. I have not been happy with all the problems MT has had with this new Grid server stuff, but I'm sticking with them. They're too high a quality host to leave for someone else. :] They'll iron out all the details.

I use Mint myself, but don't imagine I'll stick with it past it's current full release. I have no complaints, but considering I can get pretty much everything I want through Analytics at no cost, the dusty bells and whistles that Mint is providing (dusty due to my lack of use and understanding) isn't enough to justify it's cost.

I just bought a license for mint. Mainly because I no longer wanted to make use of off-site statistics buit also because I'm a sucker for sleek design ^^

Everything's running smooth thus far but that could also be due to low visitors being just a new site.

I run it on (mt) and can't say I notice much of a slow down one way or the other. I just think (mt) has had HORRIBLE time with their grid server.

I use both Mint and Google Analytics. For small sites, these are perfectly adequate. Mint is really just there for its 'real time' capability. For more in depth traffic analysis, including SEO targets and ad campaigns etc I use Google.

I also like the fact that you can assign accounts to google and let specific people see specific data. As far as I know Mint only gives you the option of having it closed off or open to all.

I've not noticed any resource issue with Mint on my sites. It just seems to tick over quietly in the background.

Ultimately, I'd say if you're toying with the idea of buying Mint, give google analytics a chance first, it's free and it's far more capable, but a lot less web 2.0...

We used four separate monitoring packages for a while just to see how closely they matched (Mint, Reinvigorate, Google and Urchin), they all gave very different results.

Web Stats are voodoo, you might as well make them up which I think a lot of people probably do, especially when you have a billion dollar valuation.

Both are nice and comptitive again google gives you free that mint charges you.

Mint is atleast not looking at your data and your site and you are safe.While you know what google doesto your personal information and data. :)

I've been using mint but I have always wondered if it's the cause of the seemingly slow loads. Perhaps I need to put the Mint JS into the footer so it'll load last.. maybe a shot in the dark?

No, you DEFINITELY need to put it in the footer. The Mint JS is dynamically generated so that makes it take even longer (although I assume it caches the latest version). Honestly, you should move all of your JavaScript to the end of your document for speed anyways so that it doesn't block the loading of the rest of your site.

I've never seen to point in splashing out on Mint, though it is certainly please to the eye and breaks things down in a simple and comprehensive manner.

I found it more than sufficient to add Slimstat as a Wordpress plugin.
