» Is Adobe taking the mickey out of the Brits?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by armen.

One thing that may or may not be taken in consideration is the posibility of import/export taxes. As a US company, Adobe's UK prices might be marked up as a result of those additional expenses.

Take music CDs for example. If I wanted to purchase a Cd by a UK band like Serafin or the Streets, I'd have to pay $25 instead $15, unless there was an American distributor.

Bottomline: CS3 is worth it. If it wasn't, you'd just bit-torrent it.

5 years seems like a lifetime ago. While I am working with building websites.. somewhat. It's alot of maintenance jobs with only a little original design work. The company I work for is heading more towards backend SEO projects as the primary bread and butter. I thought I'd be well on my way establishing myself in a great design shop. But then again, I also didn't see myself still being in school. It seems the most of my work is coming off my programming skills rather than design, which is what I've wanted for the last 10 years.

While I agree with a few people above that Trebuchet rocks out with its... Lately, I find myself revolving most creations using Gill Sans, Myriad, and the always lovely Eras for my san-serifs, and Garamond or Perpetua for the serifs.

I agree, there seems to be little cohesion with the rest of your blog. I'd try boosting the contrast, get rid of some of the middle grays.

The upgrade to the Web package is only $340. I saw only considering the the full retail of the some of its parts is like $4,000. If you have CS2 like me, it's worth the upgrade. That's the beauty of Adobe. Once you can make the initial investment, they are really good o you down the line. I was lucky and got my CS2 at a student rate of really cheap because I took a class.

Like I said in another post though, I don't know what version to get:

"Do I go with Web or Design? I'm a web designer, but also do side jobs that consist of nightclub promotions. I don't really use Fireworks, and who needs Contribute when you have DW, but Fireworks looks to have some really interesting interconnectivity now with PS AND DW. Yet, I want to be able to have the current InDesign. It'd be nice if they had a complete package without the video, for like $500 upgrade. I just don't know. What do you guys think? What are the pros/cons between the two that you've come up with?"

I've been using CS2 for some time now. I was so happy when I was able to quit trying to find stable "five finger discount" copies. CS2 was the first time I was able to buy everything flat out. I am drooling over the CS3 release. I can't seem to grasp which version I want though. Do I go with Web or Design? I'm a web designer, but also do side jobs that consist of nightclub promotions.
