What an old note...
To answer, you can set the width of the file upload field using size="50" or whatever the number of characters wide you want it to be.
text-shadow: #333333 2px 2px 2px;
Remember that IE will not support that.
He might just be using it to learn how you built your site.
I've heard this excuse plenty 'o times. "But I was just studying your code, I wasn't planning on making it visible to the public."
Wait what..? PR stunt? Purported hacking? Apple fanboism? Heh. And who says Glen gets hosting for free at Media Temple? Who do I have to talk to about that ;)
* I'm just now catching up with what's going on. I thought it was a little strange to get all sorts of links forwarded to my cellphone from people on AIM *
Just picked me up a 2008 VW R32 in Candy White. :)
I always thought it was a pain in the but to have to carry around a mini-DVI adapter in order to hook up to a widescreen external LCD. That alone would be enough motivation for me to go Pro.
* And I had no idea MacBook's were capable of being configured for 4GB of ram. I knew the MacBook Pro's could do it, but the baseline MacBook's? Man oh man is the line being blurred between the consumer and pro level hardware. Are you certain the white and black models can take 4GB? *

Shutdown?! No! How would it be possible to pay for Christmas gifts?
I was using the default OS X screenshot commands until I was introduced to Skitch. It took a little getting used to in order to remember new keyboard shortcuts, but I'm not looking back - that is until I'm faced with the decision to plop down some $$. Hmm, do I pay for software that does something as simple as capture and upload screenshots?
I've recently come to the realization that technology advancements do nothing but promote laziness. ;)
Oh the list goes on and on. I get frustrated with technology every so often like anyone else... To reassure myself, I simply think back to when Windows ME was my main operating system...
Google admin / webmaster tools pointed out that I had 42 links returning a 404. What did I do? I checked each page that should have been linked correctly and decided if the content really was worth setting up a redirect for. It was a great opportunity to remove some dead fluff from my site - content that made me say "did I really write that x years ago?"
Their forums used to be helpful but no longer are.
Agreed! I remember checking out the forums when I first started using WordPress. Oh how convenient to find answers to all of my questions. Since then, the forums look to have a wee bit more of a spam feel.
As someone else mentioned, usually answers to support questions are best answered on personal blogs by real WordPress users. I've received more tips from 9rules notes and bloggers in the past year than I ever had from the [official] WP Forums.
I dropped Matt an email about the issue. I've tried to get in contact with the hosting company. I was afraid that the note might be self-promoting but the topic needs exposure. These types of download galleries distributing public themes with extra code are tainting the hard work of theme authors and the success of WordPress.
What platform are you developing on?
The success of WordPress will only attract malicious users, check out more here. Spread the word and make sure to check if your family or friends are using themes downloaded from websites other than the original theme authors website. Digg this.
Anyone have any ideas on how to police WordPress theme distribution sites? Especially ones that are downloading themes, injecting code, and redistributing?
SVN update running in the background while checking email.
Someone else mentioned reviewing our bills before paying. Definitely do this one.
One tip for iPhone users on at&t. If you're on a family plan with two iPhones, save $10 by switching both iPhones to the lowest Apple data plan (200 sms/mo) and then requesting the shared unlimited family plan text plan ($30).
550 shared minutes = $50
iPhone x 2 = $80
Total = $130
vs.
550 shared minutes = $50
iPhone x 2 = $40
Shared Unl. SMS = $30
Total = $120
Your [cost effective] recommendations...
1. HD or Bluray DVD player
2. Compact entertainment system - I considered an all in one soundbar but reviews online for existing units were meh. Think "virtual" for my squarish concrete walled apartment. I imagine bouncing sound waves off the walls will make small sound much bigger.
iKlear vote. Great products that don't leave any type of residue on the screen. I like the small travel packs that I can store in my bag while traveling.
Booq is pricey!
Great feature. But what I'm really looking forward to is a mobile version of Firefox. PIE and Opera Mobile just aren't cutting it for me.
I would dump Mail's spam filter and go with something like Spamsieve.
I had the Timbuk2 Commuter bag for awhile. It has an integrated laptop sleeve (padded). It's the perfect size for a MacBook - no dice for the MacBook Pro. The one thing that bothered me about the bag was the fact that it was stiff sitting on my back. Because it had that extra padded sleeve it was a less flexible than a standard Timbuk2.
Eventually, I decided to go with a basic neoprene sleeve from Incase which I then place inside of a medium sized Timbuk2. Much more flexible and easier to use [even for days when I am not carrying my computer].
A few others have mentioned it but eBay is the way to go for saving some $$.
A week or so ago I popped my SIM card out of my iPhone, carefully placed it in a drawer under my TV, and placed the card into an HTC TyTN ii Kaiser. The HTC, a device powered by Windows Mobile 6, was quite a change from the uber slick interface found on the iPhone. A first for me. Why I decided to switch is something I'll go into with a blog post in a few days...
Anyway, I'm obviously new to the whole Windows Mobile device. I think I've found a decent number of programs to keep me happy [for now]. I'm interested to know if anyone else might have any other recommended applications for the platform?
@talkaboutdesign: That JS error would probably have to do with the plugin. I didn't notice any JS errors before the theme was released. I'm not familiar with that particular plugin though.
Although I may not have explicitly stated that the credit should be retained either in the footer or the sidebar, it should be a given. Just because a website is built atop of another template with considerable modifications made, I don't think it would be too much to ask for something along the lines of "Grid Focus modified by [name]".
I've seen this type of credit made on hundreds of sites and I have no problem with it. When you think about how much time was saved by downloading a free theme to build off, it's only fair.
The credit is not in place to serve as a link back to my site, more of a link for others to find the core theme to use for their own. Considering the fact that the WordPress community is comprised of varying levels of experience, I can see someone stumbling to find the download link by viewing the source for the stylesheet.
I hope your client doesn't find your post here inquiring about what to charge. That might make for an uncomfortable situation.
Never read the manual. I consider it a waste of paper - manufacturers should provide a discounted version for people who opt to purchase gadgets without any paperwork. Hell, mark my toys down even more by removing the included drivers / support CD (which are usually for Windows users anyway).
Why use CitySearch when there is something like Yelp?
Are you looking for thoughts on whether it's a good idea or how to do it?
Check this tutorial in the Codex for steps to make sure the transition goes smoothly.
Personally I think it's a great idea if you're planning on living with WordPress as the core of your website - which is definitely possible. It's something I do for all of my personal sites.
5thirtyone.com is powered by WordPress and hosted on Media Temple. Was previously hosted on DV Base but after a recent digg I upgraded to DV Rage. I was completely flustered over a monday morning digg that caused my site to become unresponsive on the DV Base. Slower than frozen molasses.
Anyway, to answer your questions:
1. Feeds on Feedburner.
2. Not sure where to look for GPU but I'm in Plesk > Virtuozzo > Resources and System Resources is at 27%
3. ~240K for page views.
Actually found it SBC Packers
There was a Filipino video clip I'm trying to find. Mocks Filipino's with heavy accents. My relatives used to get a kick out of watching it because it was exactly how they would pronounce words. P's are F's, etc.
