Not so Obscure:
Nancy Pelosi -- Speaker of the House
Diane Finestien (sp?) -- US Senator
Somewhat more obscure:
The Getty Family -- Richer than God
Renee Flemming -- Opera Singer
Michael Tilton Thomas -- Conductor
Note that Steve Jobs lives in Palo Alto and not SF. Same goes for Clint Eastwood (Carmel). Does that matter to you?
If you want clebs outside of SF: Every High Tech Founder, Don Valentine / Mike Moritz -- Sequoia VCs (Cisco/Yahoo/Google/among other companies), Larry Sonsini -- Lawyer to the High Tech stars, Robert Mondolvi (sp?) -- winemaker, etc.
Also, are you looking for living or dead? Jerry G. is dead. Jack London is way dead. Same with Robert Frost.
I don't know where the 9Rulers came up with the box thing, but I really like the way they are used here:
http://www.sleeptrip.com/300loveletters/2.html
300 love letters categorized using colored squares.
I may not use the 9Rules blue boxes now, but who knows. I vote to "keep 'em."
I just recently saw a video on UNEASYsilence about compressed-air cars.
Question for the Auto group: What's the deal? If this can work, why aren't auto companies all over this? What are the drawbacks? Is it just speed?
I know that none of these cars is anywhere near market, but do you think that they have a chance to make it to market?
Other thoughts?
oh and on the BFL front...congrats...that shirt is looking pretty baggy.
I seem to recall that your wife rocked in the Christmas gift department as well....if I recall, she baited you with something along the lines of "oh, I couldn't get you want you really wanted so I got you this...", and then, like it was an afterthought out comes the rock star grade present....or is my memory going? My 9mo old is sick and I'm not sleeping....oh, and I recall that your wife is doing all of this with a newborn? Is that right? If so, she really does rock.
Ditto to LorriM. See other thread.
cdevroe: You asked for it....
@LorriM: What's with the time zone thing? Is that all my fault? Sorry to force you to track yet another factoid. I really was just lamenting that I was far away from Belgium. Eeek. Glad I didn't mention anything about shoe size...it's 11-1/2 btw. ;-)
@DW: Thanks for the pointer. I will look them up.
One last question for you Europe folks. What ever happened to Michael H. and Binary Bonsai? I was originally brought to 9rules through his site many moons ago. What happened? Why is he not a 9rules member anymore?
Deus: Think that Mike and Paul will let us non-9Rules members fly the 9GS flag on our sites? My guess is no, but I thought that I would ask.
Fine by me.
DW: If you are at GMT+1 are you close enough to Belgium to get some real chocolate? I am at GMT-8 and it's been a while since I made the 9 time zone trek. I miss both the beer and the chocolate.
Vintage '66 here. Turned 40 in October. Am I in, am I in?
KP: Have you seen the Gore Movie?
Assuming of course that it is affordable.
But imagine if Tesla Motors developed a sedan that was the same price as the Toyota Prius. I know, I know, they want to build a sedan that competes against BMW, Lexus and Mercedes, but go with me here. Imagine a car that was fully electric, comparable styling and "bling" to a Toyota Prius at the same price as a Toyota Prius. Oh and don't forget, I am imagining a Tesla Motors car -- all electric, 0-60 in under 4 seconds, 250 mile range.
Would you buy one?

Two alternate reasons for just giving you points:
1. I was trying to find some good use for my last 2 points...I've decided that trying to get you into second place is a pretty good use.
2. I was trying to find some good use for my last 2 points...and since you are already trying to find good uses for your points...perhaps you could also find some good uses for a couple of my points. Thanks for helping me out old man.
...oh, and I wouldn't have been so mean had you not been the founding member of the 9GS.
