I have decided that this week I will use the phrase "handing them their butt cheeks in gift wrapping" at least 10x in some unique fashion.

You can tell they're number one, because my TV is flooded with "iTunes sucks, try OUR service that doesn't work on iPods!!!!!!!" commercials.

They wouldn't be on the defensive if iTunes wasn't handing them their butt cheeks in gift wrapping.

This isn't surprising at all due to the convince that the iTunes store offers and I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I know that back in the day WalMart only offered the censored version of rap albums and seeing how Hip-Hop is always at the top of the charts now people want to hear what the original sounds, not the watered down for Disney type of stuff.

Wow that was one sentence.

Link to Ars Technica news post

Word is that iTunes has finally beat out Walmart as the #1 music store in america. We saw the climb for quite a while, but I still think it's a rather monumental achievement.

What do you think? Since the advent of mp3 the music industry has been a flurry on many fronts. Today I buy more music than I did before I could listen to things online for free. I'm exposed to more artists through services like last.fm and pandora. Even iTunes itself has a very useful suggestion feature.
