The New South Wales police force and DDB Sydney have released a print campaign to raise awareness of the fact that teenagers get injured or die as a result of listening to music whilst they cross the road.

I'm more fascinated with how the iPod has become the icon for music listening. Sucks teenagers can't look both ways when crossing the street.

I just wish my headphone lead was that long.

And that's no euphemism.

Because that would just be scary.

It's not just the headphones, it's that teenagers turn up the volume until they can't hear ANYTHING around them. Maybe that's escapism or just a natural response to the buzz of urban places. I just know that when I use headphones, I can still hear cars coming along the street, because I don't turn the volume up high enough to get myself killed.

WHAT??

I'M SORRY, CAN YOU REPEAT THAT?

WHAT??

It has nothing to do with music volume or not hearing traffic...I don't hear stories of deaf people getting plastered by cars...I mean seriously, look both ways before crossing the street, I think every kid is taught that from the womb. jeez.

It's totally shitty that tax dollars are being used for this sort of thing. If the kid isn't looking both ways when crossing the road, chances are he's not going to see the sign.
