It has nothing to do with music volume or not hearing traffic...I don't hear stories of deaf people getting plastered by cars...I mean seriously, look both ways before crossing the street, I think every kid is taught that from the womb. jeez.

It's not just the headphones, it's that teenagers turn up the volume until they can't hear ANYTHING around them. Maybe that's escapism or just a natural response to the buzz of urban places. I just know that when I use headphones, I can still hear cars coming along the street, because I don't turn the volume up high enough to get myself killed.

The New South Wales police force and DDB Sydney have released a print campaign to raise awareness of the fact that teenagers get injured or die as a result of listening to music whilst they cross the road.
