Got this from a sketch in Mock the Week.
Bit of a strange question, admittably, but please contribute. And this is gonna big enough for the whole Earth to see it on a good day :)
Mine would be 'I'm 7.3477×10^22 kg and I'm getting closer every minute. ^_^'. The fear!

Haha, same thing I used to write on desks, chalkboards and bathroom stalls in high school:
"LINDZEY WUZ HERE '08"
Haha, I kid..... I would definitely spell things right in this case, and lose the caps:
"Lindsey Was Here - 2008".
....See, I've matured : ).

"first post"
No, really, I'd try to think up something profound and motivational for earth. Some constant reminder that despite all our stupid shit, we're on the same team and generally all want the same things when it really comes down to it. Of course it'd have to be a symbol, since not everyone reads english.
I think it's a question mark. If there's a more universal variation on that, then that'd be fine. We humans are explorers, no matter what our station in life, nationality, race, creed, etc. We seek out knowledge. We can't help it. Some people stop seeking and stagnate, so this would be a nice little reminder. It would also serve to remind us that no matter how much we've learned and accomplished, there is more out there.

I wonder how the peace sign and smily face would translate... I agree, the message would have to be pictural, maybe in sound or numbers code. Something universal, not a particular language.

I got it! It surely would have to be music. The problems would be "what music" and "selected by whom" !

"Kilroy was here."
Actually, I'd write something simple, like, "Glad you're here." I'd probably want to write it in a few major languages. I've always been a fan of very vague graffiti and the like. It leaves people to interpret its meaning, the meaning that fits best within their life and perspective.

I'd like to put:
"If you can see this, you're too close."
But what I'd really put is:
"Disclaimer: Not really made from green cheese."
