Jay (go check out his site, it's very good and if we all badger him enough he might actually start writing again :P ) just found this and, as a girl, I found it hysterical. And something every man should know.
How to cook for your girlfriend
Points one, two and thirteen? Something every man should know ;)

I thought this said, "how to cook your girlfriend".
I'm going back to bed now.

LOL - I think that's something for the 'relationship' section of 9rules, not the 'food' ;)

Cook? There's a Chinese just round the corner.

Rich, I think you are missing something here. There are (and listen to me here) very few things that are as appealing to a woman as a man who can cook.
So my ex only cooked for me once and I ended up in hospital (almost certainly unrelated) but I still loved him for it.

I'm afraid it's unlikely I will ever cook for you. I'd be willing to try, but it's not advisable.

LOL!!
Have you tried cooking something that DOESN'T involve fat? Maybe some pasta? Or is the boiling water too much for you...
And how on god's green earth did you get PORRIDGE to explode?!

Pasta? Seriously? You want to put me next to large quantities of boiling water?
As for the porridge, I honestly have no idea. It just... happened. I'm not allowed to use the microwave, the chip pan or the grill anymore.

Rich, does this look familiar?? Cookie baking
My 14 year old dear daughter wanted to do cookies after dinner, and I just wasn't up for it. This is the result!
I've obviously failed in my duty as a mother to teach her anything about cooking (not for lack of trying, however)!
We had a good laugh, added more flour, and I'm sure the next pan full will be better. She misinterpreted 2 1/4 cups as "two one quarter cups" (as in one half cup total) of flour. I hope she doesn't ever try to cook for her boyfriend, at least not without further training!

I cook for my girlfriend all the time. It's just part of the relationship that is. I tend to get meticulous though even if my girlfriend says I don't have to.
So that means most of the time I do all the grocery shopping, half the cleaning up (I clean the dishes as I cook because it saves time), go through recipes and come up with my own versions, the whole works.
I don't have to set a date or the mood though. It's just breakfast, lunch and dinner. We eat when we feel hungry. As long as she likes what I cook, then that's great.
Which reminds me, I need to go out and buy chicken and some potatoes for curry tonight. :)

My grown son and his fiance seem allergic to cooking. I subtly give him cookbooks that are extremely easy, and use two or three ingrediants or even prepared stuff like Stove Top Stuffing but I seriously doubt that they ever even look at it. You would never know that my kid spent his first 18 years around a kitchen table.

Am I the only one who saw the title and thought it read "How to cook your girlfriend"?

Nope, you're not the only one. In fact, every time I read it myself I have a quick double take before I realise what I ACTUALLY wrote.

Haha just read Cooper's comment (doh!) I guess I wasn't the only one. In any case I found that any of the girlfriends I had were happy if I bothered to try and cook something. Didn't matter how it came out.

I always cooked for my ex. And I cleaned up after too. I can do Italian pretty well, and if you ever want some chicken, I'm your dude. I'm a good baker too.

I cook for my girlfriend. She's a big fan of my stirfry, hehe! I enjoy cooking, one thing I wanted to do when I went to uni was be able to cook myself a meal that didn't involve taking a packet out a box and placing it in the microwave!
@Kamigoroshi: Potato in curry? bleugh!

@philbowell: potato in curry isn't as odd as you might think. At least, all the curries I had growing up had potato in them, so it's not odd to me!
