Wanted to introduce myself to 9rules and start a discussion about an important topic: the environment. As I sit here during a deep freeze in Illinois, I wonder really if "global warming" truly exists. I think back to my previous years in Texas where the temperature was consistently so hot, my friend claimed he fried an egg on his car (I hope he didn't eat.. or at least washed his car first!)
Global warming is about extremes... and as we eat up more and more of our resources (e.g. trees for paper) we face more dire needs to change our habits. I argue that graphic design can help. We can help educate, persuade and show through sustainable principles that one person can make a solid difference. My site renourish is a start to be more proactive on the topic. What are your thoughts?

I think anyone in any profession has a duty to due things they can for the environment and people that inhabit it. I think it's also a basic human requirement - well should be. Whether you believe in global warming or not, the foot print anyone leaves on the planet is something you have to be conscious of.
I am attempting with varying degrees a paper less office and have been for a while. Our council make us recycle so that part is something done in the house and office as I work from home. These are only small things though. I'm not a graphic designer for print - do sometimes but not as a rule - so the impact I have is different as an energy one through the web being my medium.

We should do whatever we are able to to protect the environment, and i think we can use our websites and blogs to promote this idea. I'm starting to ask my friends that want me to create a web site for them, to add in the sidebar or wherever a few words, or the badge or logo of an association, a campaign to protect the environment they support. Just a way to tell people "we have this big problem, don't forget it".
