I never worked in a cubicle but I couldn't help but sympathize looking at the pictures from Wired's Saddest Cubicle contest. This one takes the cake. Can you say zero room to work?

I don't think I'll understand why employers don't understand the value of having a nice work space.

So tell me your cubicles are better. Please. I pray.

My cube is DEFINITELY better than all those. Looking at those make me feel like I have an office!

Wow I thought I had no space. Considering I have books and paper all over the place. Imagine a huge car made of papers crashing on a desk.

My husband was looking at these last night, and feeling very sorry for those poor people. I told him that he should print out the one about the guy who manned a help desk from that tiny cubicle for two years and hang it in his office, and then tell his employees to be glad they don't work there if they complain about anything!

I don't get it. How do companies that treat their employees in such a way keep them at all? I won't complain about sharing my "office/studio" with my whole family and three other computer stations, that's for sure...

Wow, those cubicles are pretty dismal. The cubicle that I had for my summer job looks like a palace compared to those... Seriously, it was at least three times the size of anything in those pictures, and I was just the lowly summer co-op student!

I'd probably go insane if I had to work in an environment like any of those. Workspaces are important to me.

Man, it was such a guilty pleasure laughing at each one of those... And I mean GUILTY.

I work in a cubicle and YES it's better than those!

This is from Feb...

Here's mine:

The Cube

My only complaint is that my desk is not as big as I'd like it to be but the only way that's changing is if I buy myself a new one.

@RightOn: Time to hit the garage sales. ;)

This is mine from June of last year. I guess I need a new pictures because I don't have my flat panels configured that way anymore and my penguins are on a shelf now. It's a lot less messy nowadays.

My Cubicle circa June 2006

Those photos are very depressing, though I have to admit that I've seen offices like those. I really think there should be laws in place to force companies to treat their employees with at least a modicum of respect for their person.

My home office isn't large and is crowded, but I'm having a carpenter build me a HUGE desk (about 67 inches long and 27 inches deep) so that I can work like a queen. I'm too embarrassed to upload a photo of what I've got, but in a month or two when I get my new one, I'll be happy to show it off!

It makes me wonder about the kind of people that stay at jobs where their employer provides them with a shipping container to work in!

I can't talk much ... I work from home. On the couch.

God that's grim. And inhumane. I'm amazed americans put up with it!! We tend to have grouped work stations, but not cubicles. And DEFINITELY more space than the poor bloke in the pic.

I have just recently joined the cubicle nation and mine is still naked and lacking accouterments.

Any advice for a cubicle lifestyle? I work in IT, so I'll either be living in it full-time, or never there.
