Also, on the invoicing question, Paypal has really increased their recurring billing capabilities in the last couple of years. I used their service for a site I designed called leavethecamera.com and it has worked great. I would stick with one billing service to keep it simple.

I agree with Mike. Go with OpenAds (formerly known as phpAdsNew) and Blinksale for your invoices. I've used the ad app for 2 or so years, it owns the open source ad market. Been using Blinksale for a little while and am impressed by it's simplicity.

Only one I can think of off the top of my head is PHPadsnew for serving the ads, as far as invoices go I'd say Blinksale or one of the myriad invoicing solutions out there. Now selling the ads... that's the trick :)

I have a couple blogs that would be good for some direct niche advertising and I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to go about managing this as a publisher. I am thinking I would like to do banner ads like you see on TechCrunch or Read/WriteWeb but I am wondering what tools might make this easier. Are there any Wordpress plugins that you recommend for managing banner ads? Is there a good way to manage invoicing (I'm thinking paper + Paypal but that's probably not enough)? Help?
