So I was reading a Guy Kawasaki article the other day, noticed a Technorati Top 100 link, went with the flow and perused the list. I've done so before but this time it dawned on me that I regularly read many of these blogs, link to a few of them even. No problems there but then it dawned on me that I've become a bit cloistered in my blog reading habits.

So how about some recommendations? 9rules is a great source but what about the blogs y'all read. I'm kinda looking for people who aren't well know, aren't getting much traffic but are creating some kick ass stuff. Suppose I could explore on my own, and I will, but I know people here have little hidden blog gems they read.

Brilliance is a tad dramatic but I'd love to get to know a few more blogs walking the path less traveled. Feel like sharing? Hell, it could be you I'm looking for so don't be shy, be a self-promoter, no shame in that.

Sure, why not? :D http://www.neo-geek.net/

I really enjoy Thinker's Room, an awesome blog out of Kenya. I was pulled in by his great commentary on the One Campaign and have had it bookmarked ever since.

here ya go badtofu.com. I checked my feed reader this morning and realized i don't have many feeds outside of the 9rules circle O' power

This months' .net magazine has an article listing the 50 best British blogs - there are some good ones i'd not heard of before (but none come to mind at present!)

Eric: I don't think we're supposed to be pimping our own blogs ;).

I think I'm a bit more sheltered, as I read a lot of craft blogs, and not so many 9rulers. If you're into it, Yarn Harlot is a great read. She's a very talented writer, and although she's writing about knitting, it's still funny on a story-telling level.

thanks everyone. much appreciated. i'll visit each suggestion and as lisa pointed out storytellers are great. a good storyteller can make an empty can of paint interesting so i'm not concerned about what the topic of choice is. i'm just looking for some new and obscure blogs that rock but don't get the massive traffic.

keep 'em coming :)

sorry lisa :(, but if i don't pimp myself who will? :D

Nothing wrong with a little self promotion! :)

Design by Fire usually has some good reads also. And I just found New York Hack which is a blog about this cab driver's stories in NY. It's interesting.

The Archinect news and Design Observer feeds are two design-related ones I enjoy reading. The former is particularly good for someone on the outside who wants to keep up to date on architecture. Both can hardly be described as obscure, but they may be to someone who doesn't keep up with design!

A blog I discovered by sheer coincidence at its very first post, and have been reading closely, ever since is Tales From the Reading Room by Litlove. No tech news or society gossip there but brilliant and wonderfully written post by a book lover pur sang. It may not be everyone's kettle of fish, but if you're a even bit interested in literature, philosophy and the odd 4MPH car crash story you should definitely check it out. I would not at all be surprised to see TFTRR become a 9ruler in the next round. Superb!

If you are into personal blogs, I can't recommend Foxy M Cloud enough!

Hi Griffin

Blogs I read that I like... and that are obscure but brilliant, well maybe a tad bit eccentric - Elizabeth Perry. She posts a drawing everyday that she drew or painted and comments on the drawing.

And then there is mine - a mixed hash of poetry, illustration and life drama combined together with tomatoes from the garden and humour.

One of my favourites has to be: http://www.little-wonder.net/

It's a personal blog but I always find it interesting and I really enjoy her writing style.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to drop some sites on me. Much appreciated. Chances are I wouldn't have ever stumbled upon these fine folks without your links.

I just helped launch a blog: QN5 blog. It's written by artists of an independent record label (QN5 Music) and I've read articles and entries they've written on forums and myspace and the like, so I'm excited that they have their own place to write now.

I really am a Neowin and Engadget man, though News Designer has become high on my list.
