I've lost my Blog! Everything was fine until Saturday evening, when my blog just stop loading. So i check my connection but it was fine. I've try load ooblez.com because it was my hoster and nothing happened. I start to ping it and I received a message "Connection time out". I was thinking that it was a 1 April joke. Next day, ping was fine, but there was no web page. I've login on my ftp account and was OK. I started download my files but I did not download them all. Shame. Today I noticed that IP of the ooblez.com has changed. Maybe they will back in the future, and maybe I get back my post.

Conclusions: Free hosting is bad hosting? I just wanna to have a simple blog without payment! Currently I will use this hoster. It's polish company, but I know them since years (recently they reorganize their service and it's really nice for me). I've got only 150MB for my files. Sad but true. It's also free service but with ads - in polish :)

Well this is simply going to be a case of "you get what you pay for" and I would think the best solution would be to go with WordPress.com or some other form of service. To me there really is no such thing as free without a price because people have to make money somehow and it isn't by letting you do what you want on their servers for nothing.

My previous blog was a WordPress blog hosted on a free host. While I was away during the summer, the host dissapeared and I lost everything. When I restarted it at the end of August, I just bit the bullet and got GoDaddy's basic shared hosting for $3.50 a month, and needless to say I still have my blog (now hosted with Media Temple).

If you'd rather avoid blog hosting services like wordpress.com, my best advice to you would be to do anything you can to get a paid hosting account from a reputible company. Otherwise, you've simply got a high chance of having something happen to your blog, and that's never a good thing.
