Has anyone got any idea why Bryans Avalonstar has been taken down? I really enjoyed reading his entries, and I just popped in for a look and saw the message currently on the site.
I know i'm being kind of nosey, and if you can't discuss it don't worry, I was just wondering.

I'm just going to go ahead and guess that this is an early April Fools joke (at least I hope so).

Alot of people are saying that this is all a big joke.
I have a feeling that alot of people are going to eat their words and feel terrible come April 3rd.

A bunch of 9rules members have been discussing this very issue in the member's forum for a couple of days now. Many people are split on whether or not this is some sort of joke. Personally, it sounds too serious to me.
Bryan, if you're reading this, we all hope everything is okay buddy.

mmm so 9rules members have their 'private' forum?
That sucks...

I think it would be pretty naive for people to think that members didn't have some sort of private discussion area.

Tyme talks about the member's forum all the time. I really don't think I let anything out of any bags. ;-)

I just didn't know, and I'm not really fond of anything that encourages some sort of 'club'... I'm all for open forums. However, I don't know the nature of the content that is discussed there so I can't really say if I approve or dissaprove, my gut just screams elite club when I read 'private forum'.
Anyhow... let's stick on-topic.
jmathias

Wolf, 9rules is an "elite club". I mean it's not an open membership thing. You have to be invited.
isdereks
Written Apr. 1, 2007 / Report /
"Elite" sounds a little too strong. By no means do bloggers in the network think that they are above any other blogger.
jmathias
Written Apr. 1, 2007 / Report /
Of course not, I'm the last person to think that, some days I don't even feel I should be blogging at all.
Elite is too strong but that was Wolf's word.
It's not open though, exclusive maybe?
bgilham

You're against anything that promotes some sort of club, but you happily participate on 9rules? This entire network was founded on the very idea of there being an exclusive club. The member's forum was around even before the Notes section was created. It's nothing new.

9rules... it's not a club, it's an adventure to be all that you can be :)
Like a credit card, membership has it's privileges.
To get back on topic, Bryan could be pulling an April Fools prank because there are a lot of them going around but if not, I hope he's ok.

They are figuring out how to take over the world.
It now makes sense why these notes are often so dead.
Couldn't comment on Avalonstar - never heard of him.

I noticed it a few days ago as well, my heart dropped when I found a plain white page, with a very vague explinaton of where Bryan's site has gone. I guess its one of those things that will keep us in suspense until we hear the bad news.

.. personally I think it's a bit of a crock, not that I am specifically calling out Bryan here, just a bit of a cynic.
And of course 9rules has benefits for members, it's a bit ridiculous to expect otherwise, imho.
cooper
Written Apr. 2, 2007 / Report /
Of course the benefits parts is perfectly acceptable and expected.
I came here originally for my very small part in a much larger study, and also so I could write a paper (which turned out to be) on the necessity for the of tightening up the structure of any given social network in order for it to survive.
As with any culture that survives, the social networks that survive will be the ones that do construct a society of sorts, a society in which their will be elite and in which there will be those on the fringe.
I finally figure out who Avalonstar is though.

I think it's pretty cool how "supportive" the 9rules community are towards this, even when we really don't know what's going on.
Anyways, come April 3 and we still haven't seen anything..

Seems looking into himself has perhaps opened up some wounds. If this is the case, I know all too well how he feels; people can try to ignore or forget things, keeping everything inside.
It's not healthy, but i'm one to talk: even after counselling I still do it. But I recent lady friend is being utterly wonderful and supportive and hopefully with similar uspport from oursevles, Bryan will be back in no time.
Yay!

At least he's alright. For a few days I worried that it was some sort of physical injury keeping him away from Avalonstar. Than I thought it might have been some sort of lawsuit requiring him to remove his site.
It's great to know its by choice, rather then forced submission to remove his sites content. But we've all experienced tough times, causing mental handy caps. Some of these have been caused my relationships, family, our jobs, or whatever else. But Bryan, now knows that an entire corner of the internet is behind him. Bryan has helped to inspire a cult like following, of high quality and user centered blogging. Byran's friends, family, and following will aways be there to catch him when he falls, kiss him when he gets hurt, admire him when he achieves, and follow him when he inspires. Even if he doesn't return to the word of media cooperation, we will always have our fond memories of him helping to change the way we look at blogging, media distribution, and user-driven content.
