One of the most important reasons why I blog is to interact with my readers. Not that I blog for them, but if I didn't care at all, then I'd just keep a diary. But, of course, I do care. I love the conversations that get started through blogging.
So I'm curious: if you have a blog, what is your post:comment ratio? (total comments / total posts) I'm a personal blogger with modest traffic, and mine hovers around 4 comments for every post. Although I'd love more interaction, I'm pretty satisfied with this ratio. What about you?

According to my control panel, Bright Meadow is currently standing at 665 posts and 2,679 comments. That's just over 4 comments per post.
Which is actually a little misleading as when I migrated to WP from blogger in November 2005 I lost all my old comments. So working on 415 (approx) posts with comments on them, I'm getting an average of 6.4(ish) comments a post.
I'm happy with that ratio. I'd like it to be higher, and on a lot of posts now it is, but... it's not bad for a little personal blogger from the UK.

How do you calculate that? Is there a program which disregards my own comments.
If I do it according to the dashboard it is about 14/1 but that doesn't take into account my responses or the fact that maybe twenty percent of the time I shut comments off, or that very little of my comments from blogger transfered when I switched a year ago.
The highest I ever had was eighty something and there are times I get none, and times I get five emails for every comment.
Truthfully there are times when comments make you nuts because if you miss someone they will email you or think you ignored them or are rude. Sometimes no comments is a blessing, yet if I would get no comments I would probably be depressed.
I'd like to know who comments the most and which posts had most comments and in what exact order.

3.77 comments for each post. I was surprised that it was so high. Then again, I have very active posts still in the sectors of Kashi Meals and Gabila Knishes.

I have 2.3 (93/40) comments per post, which I don't think is bad, but it's not good.

Oh sorry are we talking total posts and total replies? Then mine is something like 200:700...
I'd be more precise but SQL Server isn't letting me login right now =(

What an interesting question!
Mine is 188 posts/2476 comments (real people, not viagra people), which averages to 13.1 comments per post. A chatty lot, bloglily and her readers.

About 4 comments for every post. I think I probably make up for half of that in replies leaving a grand total of 2 comments per unique visitor per post.
Which makes sense though seeing that I get about 200 hits a day and the average comments are about 1-5% of your total site readers.
As with Cas, I'd like to have more interactivity on the blog, but hey for a personal blog in the face of other "me too" blogs out there, I'm doing pretty well indeed.

Ah, division - the math I remember how to do! It looks like I'm averaging 6.84 comments per post (195 posts/1334 comments). Like Cas, I migrated from WP and lost half a year's worth of comments and like Kamigoroshi, I like to reply at least once or twice to comments, so at least of third of those are me.
I too love the interactivity of blogging; were it not for that community aspect, I probably wouldn't bother.

308 posts and 555 comments. 1.8 comments to each post! Some of you guys have some great ratios, Glenn in particular - 15.87 - that's pretty sweet!

There are currently 457 posts and 5,278 comments....Since My maths is bad, i approximate that to be 11.5 comments per post, there about?
The biggest comment post I had was around 220 over comments (and counting). Not too bad for an anime blog, and I am also glad that I have a few entries hovering around 170 to 180 comments too :P

5:6 ratio. Still very early in the site's life and I think a good goal to set next is 1:5 then 1:10.

About 60% of the articles I originally had comments closed. Funny thing about my audience, they email me more than comment and although it can be challenging sometimes (keeping up) I prefer that. It gives me the chance to have 1on1 interaction with them.

My smallish blog has 63 posts and 27 replies so it averages out to 2.3. So that's not too big of a post number though.
