Tyme comes out of hiding and announces new members
Written by Tyme White on August 22, 2007
It’s been a while since I’ve announced new members. I’ve reconciled I’ll be going through submissions for the rest of my life lol. Nothing like contacting someone who submitted their site months ago and they are shocked I’m still going through them. It is a good feeling.
We have three new members to 9rules:
hthth (my9r) - Think Artificial (site)
PilotJohn (my9r) - Pilot John (site)
TheAnimeBlog (my9r) - The Anime Blog (site)
Brave souls these three…coming in during a transition. I want to thank them for their patience. We’re doing things a bit different as we prepare for Ali2.
Once again…if you haven’t received an email from me I haven’t reviewed your site yet so you weren’t rejected unless you get an email from me saying you were…and why. I’ve only gone through perhaps 1/3 of 3700+ emails (I stopped counting because the number was throwing me off) and that’s having one on one interactions with each person (ranging from thanks for the feedback to help in improving their blog). For those statistical people, yes I am announcing 3 out of about 500 but the difference is there are people working on issues whereas in previous rounds either a site made it or they didn’t…without knowing why. The end number might be 50 - who knows?
Congrats to the new 9rules members! Glad to have ya.

I really thought the new members were on halt until Ali came about.

@David: If it was for Round 5 if you did not hear anything then the site was not accepted. If it was after Round 5 (or one of the problem sites from Round 5) then you’ll eventually hear from me. The problem sites from Round 5 are the ones that had hosting issues (there were tons during that time) and the site owner contacted me to inform me when their site would be back up - but it was after the guys and I went through Round 5 sites. Unfortunately, some people was unable to get their sites restored.
@Ricardo: Two of the three knew for weeks they were accepted. Since we pushed back the release I said it was ok to say something. There will be more additions.

Just a small point - how do *we* know which is which?
It reads in a way to suggest that a lack of contact means that either one, or other, or indeed both may be the case. So a lack of contact at this point has two entirely different reasons.
I’ve long since stopped watching the mail, so it worries me (very) little, but I imagine there a re a few “still hopeful” people out there.
I guess there are folks that just couldn’t wait?

Brendan - haven’t gotten to your site yet…which is surprising. I thought I would have hit it by now.
I still get submissions and I park them for a later date. We get recommendations from sites telling their readers to submit their blogs to 9rules all the time. It brings up an interesting point though. For the majority of 9rules history submissions were closed except for rounds. Your submitted a couple of times a year and there was a 24 hour window. Submissions were closed 90% of the time. When I opened them it seemed like the fact that submissions were open “really” caught on.
Going through so many I’ve learned some tricks that enable me to go through them faster.

I’m not hard to miss, but that’s okay, I emailed pretty late in the piece - at the time I figured there was no great rush to spam someone already snowed under.
As for the rounds thing, it did seem to work well at the time.
