Keep going

Just curious…but how many more of these announcements do you expect to do? Not that I want them to stop, I’m just trying to gauge if I should start emotionally moving on or still hold out hope.
December 18th, 2006 at 2:39 pm
Just move on, like the rest of us have.
Just kidding. Congrats everyone!
December 18th, 2006 at 2:41 pm
Oh. And, the proofer in me wants to let you know that it should be Pats, not Pat’s.
I’m just here to help.
December 18th, 2006 at 2:51 pm
Congrats and welcome!
December 18th, 2006 at 2:51 pm
Congrats guys!
You all have 24 hours to get the logo on your websites or crazy midget 9rules elves are on their way to ’shut down your whole operation’ - whatever that means.
December 18th, 2006 at 2:55 pm
Thanks, fixed it.
What I find interesting is that you have so little faith in yourselves that you would automatically lose hope or actually worse, if the news was bad, not want to know why?
I know what it is like to submit and back then Scrivs wasn’t saying why. It was straight up yes or no and don’t ask any questions. It’s not that way now. I’ve been responding to people when they requested a status on their site. Guess what 80% of my responses were?
Sorry! We haven’t hit your site yet
Instead of assuming - ask…just don’t be surprised if my response is “haven’t been to your site yet”. And what I mean by that - all of us have been through the list at least once but due to the change in posting behavior, we’re doing the final pass together.
December 18th, 2006 at 2:58 pm
Aidan, they can’t put the 9rules leaf up yet. I haven’t sent it to them yet.
Congrats everyone!
December 18th, 2006 at 3:05 pm
Grats to all of the new folks (not like I can say that with any hint of me being a 9Rules old-timer!) I guess “new folks” is extremely relative.
I checked out all of the sites, they all seem really nice. A Moden Construct is probably going to hold a special place in my heart. Love the content.
December 18th, 2006 at 3:14 pm
It’s nice to be accepted into the fold. Nice to have some confirmation once in a while
December 18th, 2006 at 3:15 pm
I hope that I get accepted on the very last day, that way I will be guaranteed to check the new listings every day. I have subscribed to at least 5 new sites from the announcements so far.
Tyme, related to not having faith about getting in, I am also surprised about how many posts I have seen on accepted blogs saying ‘I never thought I would get in’. This seems almost like saying ‘I really don’t think my blog is that good’ or ‘I don’t really put much effort into my blog’.
Just a thought.
December 18th, 2006 at 3:26 pm
Congrats to all the new 9Rules members! Now, if I could just have a couple of extra days in the week to read all this great content…
December 18th, 2006 at 3:30 pm
Compete is one of the best blogs out there. Glad to see it made it in.
“Sorry! We haven’t hit your site yet

I think it stems from the fact that it’s now past 100% of the time you said you would be announcing new sites (2 weeks) — so people feel like at best, there are only a few sites left to add. People’s fear and doubt is founded on rational probability. Even if you have the best site in the history of the interwebnet, if only 10 more sites will be added, and 80 already have, the expected likelihood of acceptance into 9Rules from your POV has decreased by ~90%.
I personally have no idea how many sites are left, my guess is “some,” which is a number between 10 and 100. A huge margin. which leaves back to the paragraph above which is that people who have submitted site are in the land of fear and doubt (or acquired apathy).
Also, Tyme what’s your email? I can only find a contact form on your site and no email addy anywhere.
Second to lastly, why does 9Rules.com date its post automatically? To me this is a cardinal sin for any blog — it means as a new reader I could be reading something from a year ago or 6 months or or yesterday which changes the context entirely. I hate when I goto normal corporate websites or newspaper sites and they will amazingly enough have undated entries, but this confounding issue persists!
Lastly, Matt, as a fellow Pats fan, your layout in IE! It breaks and the columns are shunted to the bottom. There should be an easy fix for that.
December 18th, 2006 at 4:00 pm
Yeah, I still hold out a little hope for my site but I am personally wondering if I am in or not. If I get in, I would just love that but if I don’t, that’s cool too.
December 18th, 2006 at 4:20 pm
Congratulations to everyone!!
December 18th, 2006 at 4:45 pm
Glad to be a new member - looking forward to participating in a community that has taught me so much. I checked out the other sites just initiated and they look great.
December 18th, 2006 at 4:48 pm
Thanks so much for inclusion of MonticelloLive.com! We’re excited and deeply appreciate the recognition and honor from 9Rules! (Now, if only my personal blog makes it in this round, I’ll just have to go slap my chihuahua.)
Great work, guys.
December 18th, 2006 at 4:57 pm
Er.. may I ask what’s the status of my blog, then? If you have already visited it, is it because I’m French ?
And congrats to the newly elected members.
December 18th, 2006 at 5:01 pm
Johnny: Send the email to 9rulesTyme@gmail.com.
We have hundreds of sites left. We are going through the list from scratch and this is a good thing. We have people accepted this round that submitted multiple times in the past and they had no idea why their blog was rejected. That was something I wanted to change.
If you email me today I most likely will not respond today because Tyme is finishing her thesis today (YEAH!!!) so I appreciate your patience.
December 18th, 2006 at 5:24 pm
Hey Johnny, articles on our blog have always had dates but we’ve been tweaking the design/HTML a bit so I think they got lost by the wayside, thanks for bringing that up. Of course all our entries have comments posted on the day we wrote it, so you could always just check out the comments and their dates to get a better feel for when things were posted.
December 18th, 2006 at 6:14 pm
Jeez, Tyme — I was just looking for sympathy!
I’m in the same boat as Johnny — I’ve already asked, and was told “haven’t reached the site, yet.” But I was assuming that the list was almost done.
And you know what happens when you assume…
I haven’t given up hope. But you couldn’t blame us if it was running out.
As (hopefully) most of the bloggers who entered will attest to, we’re doing this for recognition and entrance into a great community of bloggers. Those of us who are pestering you and whining about how their hope is running out are all really excited to show what we can offer to the 9rules community. We’re hopeful, and excited, and nervous.
But, if it isn’t to be, it isn’t to be. I will continue to write because I enjoy writing. If I win favor with the 9rules judges, then hooray for me (and for everyone that gets a chance to read about the Sioux Falls Skyforce!). If not, we’ll just have to try a little harder to get our message out.
I speak for everyone — thanks for all the work you’re going through.
Now hurry up and choose my blog!
December 18th, 2006 at 7:48 pm
I don’t see it as pestering and whining. I know what it is like to submit. Looking back, it’s amazing I got in. Scrivs & I had just got into a fight (and we didn’t know each other) and my readers dared me to submit. When I got my email saying I was in, I made Scrivs a podcast.
Hey, I haven’t received a podcast, video…I think I’ll cry now.
Seriously, the big difference is: this time, it’s not a blind rejection. Sit back, enjoy the new submissions. If you’re not listed on the final list, email me:
Yo Tyme! I didn’t get in, why? Girl, work with me!
Which is something the previous round submits could not do. Ya’ll are lucky, I’m telling you.
And we still haven’t hit your blog yet Corey. Didn’t want you to think I was implying you weren’t accepted.
December 18th, 2006 at 8:46 pm
When I’m not accepted into the network I will definitely be send you tons of flames asking for explanation!
But anyways, do you think we could get an update on how many site you have gotten through? When you posts each days members I would be very grateful if you would say how many site you have gotten through so that we could have some idea of whether 10 or 100 were left. This would probably be easier for you than having to answer all of the messages asking if I has been accepted yet. Good luck on the thesis and the rest of the blogs.
December 18th, 2006 at 9:39 pm
.. and the great content keeps on coming.
In many ways - this drip-feed approach is great, as we all get a chance to have a proper look at each successful entrant, rather than have to plow through 100+ entry lists.
The down side? An inexplicable and massive increase in stress medication being sold over the counter (I’m probably not helping, either) due to the “Am I in? No? Yes? Maybe? Mommy!” type situation that occurs every time I see a new 9rules blog entry .

[...] It wasn’t until a Mr. Ralph Dagza told me that I found out I had been selected for membership in 9Rules, a sort of “Best of the Web 2.0″ club for designers, writers, and bloggers (or all three in one). I entered some time ago, back even before my template change, and so I’m a little embarrassed that I’m not finished pounding down the loose nails and spackling the scratches in the paint yet. [...]

Congrats to all the new additions!
December 19th, 2006 at 2:36 am
congrats everyone.
December 19th, 2006 at 3:35 am
I think there are probably 600-700 left. That’s just my guess. Good luck to everyone.
December 19th, 2006 at 4:17 am
Congrats to all that made it in Monday.
That goes double for Matt’s Pats Blog which frankly I’m glad to see more than others. If I’m not mistaken it is the only sports related blog accepted so far this round and is a fine addition to the sports community.
The sports community and the automobile community is far under populated to this point.
With, I’m guessing a little over 50% already viewed and determined to be worthy of inclusion to 9 Rules, it gives me hope I still have a chance.
With crossed fingers, the wait continues
December 19th, 2006 at 7:34 am
Another reason to love the 9 rules community, even if your not “chosen” they will help you out so you know how to improve! That’s really good to know. So now I could look at the benefits of not getting in!

[...] MonticelloLive received word yesterday afternoon that it had been chosen for inclusion in the 9rules Blog Community. 9rules is a website that seeks to discover "the best weblogs in the world on a variety of topics." According to their site, 9Rules began in order "to give passionate writers more exposure and to help readers find great blogs on their favorite subjects. It’s difficult to find sites worth returning to, so 9rules brings together the very best of the independent web all under one roof." [...]

Congratulations to all the new accepted members!
I am thrilled to know that this time if I am rejected, I actually get to have a response. Cool! Thanks for all the efforst!

Wow! Some excellent sites added again. While I’m still hopeful for my own site I am excited to see all this great content being added.
As a Patriots season ticket holder since 1992, I am glad to see Matt’s Pats Blog get in. It’s an excellent read week to week. Congrats to all.
